The Alhambra
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.

2.00We hired a guided tour and we already had tickets, the maps played us a bad time and we arrived late to the meeting point. We asked the person in the office if he could call the guide to see where they were and join the group, his answer was no because once he entered the alhambra "they were forbidden to call them"??, we were surprised by the answer and asked him to tell us the tour and the name of the guide to look for him. He told us he didn't know the route and gave us a name. Once inside the watchmen watching the time of the entrances told us they would be in the jeneralife. Upon finding the guide, he told us that she was not and that he was alone with Italians. We decided to wait at the Nasrid Palaces to enter with the group at the scheduled time. We called the company to confirm and a very friendly lady told us to calm down and that she called the guide to tell her that we were there. I told him what the office employee said and he didn't give credit for what happened. We don’t understand why that person told us that story of being forbidden to call, giving us the name of another guide and not knowing what route they were taking. In short, at no time did you intend to help us as did the watchmen and the lady who answered us on the phone. Finally we could only see with the guide the Nazaries Palaces. Mind you, the guide, Allain was very good.
Alhambra experience great, but overpriced via Trip Advisor

4.00Alhambra itself lives up to its fame and hype, we spent 6 to 7 hrs in the complex, and visited all the attractions without rushing - the Nasrid Palace, Generalife Palace, Charles V Palace, the Alcazaba Fortress, and the overall sprawling manicured gardens. Buying the tickets on Trip Advisor has overheads - both in terms of price and effort. We paid 32 EUR for the normal 21 EUR direct ticket per person, so quite a markup. We had to exchange the voucher for an actual ticket - the Welcome Visitor Center was supposed to be open until 18:30, but when we reached there the previous day at 18:25, it was closed. Unfortunately, given the popularity of the Alhambra, via 3rd party was the only "guaranteed" option even 3 months in advance of our visit. The so called audio guide part of the Trip Advisor package is a publicly downloadable app (Basir Audio Guide de La Alhambra) on your phone, and for Nasrid Palace section you get a password based on your ticket - so be sure to have a smart phone with earphones per person.

1.00We bought 2 tickets for the entrance to the Alhambra palaces Nazaries and others charged us 398 EUR , we were sent an email the previous day that there was a problem with the tickets for the palaces Nazaries , we ran out of them only gave us the option to see the outside , we changed the itinerary of the trip only for this , and my recommendation is not to buy on TRIPADVISOR , we are returned 30% a THEFT !! You have to denounce the facts so that people know !! The Tours Alhambra agency, passepartours, conclusion I will put on the networks not to buy in this agency and I want to return my money! What corresponds! Thank you.
Beautiful place and December is ideal time to visit .

4.00Glad we didn’t visit in the heat as a lot of walking . Bus easily taken from Granada c30 or c 32 . We booked via top tours ( thought I had booked direct but didn’t matter ) audio guis good but mainly about architecture etc . Would have loved more history of ownership etc . Well organised . Bring passport .

4.00You buy a time slot for entrance to Alhambra (generallife and other areas) but for the Nasrid Palace you pay extra . When changing the voucher into a ticket (the ticket office where this can be found was easy) you will be assigned a time slot for the palace. We were able to enter Alhamra at 11 am but only at 3 pm the Nasrid Palace. They're very strict at the palace door. You can enter the palace no later than 15 minutes earlier. So watch this. Viator assigns a time slot that you don't see until there.

5.00Carlos was an excellent tour guide! He knew a lot and added great humor along the way. He even recited poetry from memory about the 12 lions. Had a great time!
nice audio guide but paid twice for 2 while same code (one payment would have been enough)

3.00audioguide granavision. The audio guide is good, for me it is not complete enough but all the parts are explained succinctly. On the other hand, I grumbled well, I paid twice the audio guide (we were 2 and 2 iPhones) and I received twice the same code allowing to access everything. So I could've just paid him once and used him both. It's a bit stupid... and they'd better report it (that's why I put 3)
