The Alhambra
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.

5.00The Alhambra was excellent and we are thrilled we went. Three things about doing it through Tripadvisor. First, the ticket office didn’t open until 8:15 and we were supposed to go in at 8:30. So, it was cutting it quite short. Second, they misprinted our tickets, so we had to explain each time we used the tickets (which you use repeatedly!). Finally, the audio guide was not helpful in telling you where to go next, and thus we missed places where the guide was supposed to give us information because we did not know where to go. However, overall the experience was good!

2.00Make sure to arrive at Nasrid Pallace gate exactly on the ticket reserved time, or you will not be admitted. No excuses. Even a closed boarding gate at the airport may be exceptionally opened, but not Nasrid palace gates!

2.00The Alhambra and the Nasrid Palace deserve 5 stars. But Granavision does not. We had booked tickets until 12:00. We were informed the day before that they were valid all day, but not to the Nasrid Palace, where there was only access at 5 p.m. Along with the tickets was an audio guide on the smartphone app (very long introductory texts) and a map that was completely out of line with the actual conditions on site. We had to use google maps during the visit to find around. The instructions at the delivery were fine and get Granavisions rating up to 2 stars

4.00The attraction itself is a little extensive and long without options to drink or eat. The service from the tour provided was very good and audioguide tecnology was pretty good. My only suggestion will be to improve the audioguide system on how to identify the spots being described.
Buy a ticket from the official Alhambra website months before you go.

3.00Since I didn’t book far enough in advance from the official Alhambra site, it was sold out. Thankfully you can purchase tickets from third-party providers. Our problem was the ticket simply said 9:00 am. There wasn’t any mention of when the timed entry for the Nasarid Palace would be. As it turns out, it was at 11:00 am. This wouldn’t have been a problem except we booked a tour guide (after seeing the audio guide was rated 2.5 stars). We told the tour guide our tickets were for 9:00 am, which he took to mean the entry to the palace was at that time. When we showed up with an 11:00 am timed entry it was a problem (which he solved). So, the it would be best to get a ticket that lets you know in advance what time you need to be at the palace. As a warning, go early to the entrance gate. We saw a family turned away because they were 1’ late. They had been standing in a long line to get in. Finally, we did not have any problem finding the place to pick up the tickets. Just use the link they send and follow it. Although they say they open at 8:00 am, they would not give us our tickets until 8:15 am. No idea why. No one else was there but us.

5.00Very courteous welcome, fast and convenient service for ticket collection and audio guide activation. All a few meters from the entrance to the Alhambra. Positive experience.

1.00Tickets purchased through Trip Advisor. Time reserved for Palacios Nazaries: 11:00 Actual time displayed on tickets: 16:30 Why the difference? Supplement paid for audio guide. At the shop, the person who gives me the tickets explains that the shop closes at 4:00 pm and that you have to return the audio guides before the closure of the shop, i.e. before the visit of the Palacios Nazaries. You have to download the app to my phone. Why did I pay extra? Price paid to Trip Advisor = 223.60 euros for 4 people Face value of tickets delivered to the shop = 21.00 euros x4 or 84.00 euros for 4 people How can Trip Advisor justify such a price gap?(more than 2.5 times ticket prices) The visit to the Alhambra was beautiful. The experience with Trip Advisor was horrible.
Poor directions to progress through attractions. Audio guides poor. Not able to see the Kings Palace was disappointing.

3.00Needs to have better directions for moving around the attraction. The audio guides functioned very poorly. There were no marked locations as to where to listen to the specific numbered guide. It seemed really strange to have to show your passport every time you moved from one section to another.
