The Alhambra
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.

Overexpensive price for a supposed "guided tour"

2.00It's a scam. An entry to the Alhambra costs 22€. They sell you this ticket for 50€ for a supposed "guided tour" which is a pre-registered audio. It is absolutly not worth the almost 30€ extra. The alhambra remains gorgeous.

2.00Searched online everywhere for tickets that worked with our time available and finally found and confirmed for 1pm. Sadly, the day prior our tickets were changed to 5pm forcing us not be able to experience the entirety of Alhambra. Never make your tickets for the same day as your departure as we felt ripped off. All ticket times when I was searching which was 6 weeks earlier were for 5pm. Odd that we ended up in that time a lot regardless of what we were confirmed.

5.00Yeah, sure. The staff at the ticket exchange agency very friendly and efficient. No audio guide but an application to download so as not to be limited in time. If you go in the morning you can have breakfast on site in the adjoining cafe, they are very friendly. The Alhambra site is amazing. From a practical point of view everything is explained very well with numerous staff on site and always attentive in different languages. A little extra if you are looking for food on site do not hesitate to visit the America Hotel. The place looks impressive but they offer reasonably priced food in a beautiful patio and the staff is also very welcoming.
A definite must on your Granada trip but book early

5.00Book early when we arrived they said no spaces all week and this wasn’t busy season Viator booking was easy. You have to pick up tickets from customer servicesthen swap at ticket office which was a bit of a hassle but not too bad Remember your photo ID The place was amazing and walking at pace it still took us all of the day so ensure you have a morning slot. Some areas have more steps than others so those with restricted mobility won’t see everything but still great for everyone Everywhere was amazing but the central plaza with the lions has beautiful lighting for pictures The audio guide was good but it’s a bit tricky to orientate as there’s numbers on the guide but I only spotted a couple actually on or around buildings.

5.00If you miss out on the official tickets this seems to be the only option. It is not a guided tour but you do get access to an audio guide.
Cancelled a few hours before tour with no reason given!

1.00We made a special trip to Spain to visit the Alhambra. I booked this tour because it was highly rated. The day before our scheduled visit, I received a text with the QR code for our tickets. The day of our visit, I received an email a few hours before our scheduled tour to say our trip was cancelled. I contacted the tour company asking for a reason why it was cancelled. I never received a reply and it has been two weeks. We were meeting friends from the US who travelled a long distance for this experience. We were very disappointed. The Alhambra is booked several weeks in advance so it was too late to rebook with another tour company. I am still very upset by this cancellation and it ruined a big part of why we chose to visit this region of Spain.

5.00The Alhambra was excellent and we are thrilled we went. Three things about doing it through Tripadvisor. First, the ticket office didn’t open until 8:15 and we were supposed to go in at 8:30. So, it was cutting it quite short. Second, they misprinted our tickets, so we had to explain each time we used the tickets (which you use repeatedly!). Finally, the audio guide was not helpful in telling you where to go next, and thus we missed places where the guide was supposed to give us information because we did not know where to go. However, overall the experience was good!
