If you're a lover of hiking and nature, Alishan Mountain is the most precious gem where you should definitely not miss out in Taiwan!
Departing from Chiayi Railway Station and HSR Chiayi Station, we will be heading to Chukka first. Next, we will arrive in Alishan, where you can explore the forest with those ancient trees that have lived on for more than a thousand year. Further more, immerse yourself in the phytoncidin while walking on the mysterious trails and relax from the daily stress. Last but not least, Alishan is rich of cultural heritage for indigenous tribes whose traditions and customs are still celebrated today.

Chukou Visitor Center
Chukou Visitor Center is a stop where you can rest your legs and stretch your body because it is a long drive from the start. However, soon we will be arriving at Alishan!
Alishan National Forest Recreation Area
Situated in the mountainous region of Chiayi County, Alishan is famous for its towering ancient trees, stunning landscapes, and the unique phenomenon known as the "sea of clouds." Visitors to Alishan can experience a serene environment filled with lush greenery, scenic walking trails, and refreshing mountain air. The most visited attractions in Alisha Area are Numaping Station, Sister Ponds, Magnolia Garden, Shenyi Waterfall, Shouzhen Temple, and more.

Beautiful scenery

5.00The way all the way to top of mountain is around 1.5 hours. I got car sick because the road is winding. However the forest is beautiful. We walked to the top and took train down. They have a food court in the recreational area, you can buy local lunch there. The trip is finished at around 5PM, the tour guide will drive you back to the original place.

5.00We had a good tour with Terence. Pick up was on time, stuck to our schedule and enjoyable walk through the forest. Terence was very willing to go at a pace we were all comfortable with and made frequent photo stops. Weather was great which was a big plus. Only criticism was a stop at a coffee shop where a weird, overly friendly owner was serving us tea. This lady was a few cards short of a full deck, scary even. I would caution this about the tour company. We crossed paths twice with another tour group from the same company. Their tour leader was also very strange and talked non stop, making loud jokes about nonsense. I certainly wouldn't have enjoyed myself on this guy's tour, so probably luck of the draw as to your experience. I'd say, if you get the strange guide, break off and do your own thing. My understanding is he's the manager of the company?

5.00We enjoyed the forest of cedar and cypress trees in Alishan. The guide's English was easy to understand and his Japanese was pretty good. Trains were suspended due to the approaching typhoon, but they were able to adjust their schedules on a resourceful basis, which was a great pleasure.

5.00This Alishan day tour was an amazing experience! The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and the itinerary was well-organized with just the right amount of time at each stop. The Sacred Tree Trail and the Alishan Forest Railway were especially memorable. Transportation was comfortable and on time, making the whole trip very convenient. It’s a great option for travelers who want to explore Alishan without the hassle of planning everything on their own. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chiayi or looking for a stress-free way to enjoy Alishan’s natural beauty and fresh mountain air. Would definitely join again!

5.00Randomly saw this tour and decided to give it a try — turned out to be one of the highlights of my holiday. The guide was super friendly and shared lots of interesting local stories along the way. Everything was well-paced and it was great not having to worry about transportation or timing. This tour is ideal for anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Alishan in just one day. Highly recommended!

5.00Captain Cook was great! Awesome bilingual (Chinese and English speakers well accommodated) experience. Comfortable vehicle, great narration throughout the sites, and he was helpful with navigating food and souvenir purchases. Be aware that there are a LOT of stairs in the experience, and you will need to bring cash (recommend minimum 800 NTD per person for food, Alishan railway ticket, bus shuttle, and some souvenirs)
