• Incredible Summer Day at Alton Towers!

  Had an amazing trip to Alton Towers in Summer 2024! The park was looking great and the weather made for a perfect day out. I managed to get on Rita and Oblivion, which both delivered the usual high-speed thrills. I also squeezed in a ride on the Congo River Rapids, which was a nice way to cool off. The highlight for me was definitely Smiler—I managed to get on it twice! It’s easily one of the most intense and fun coasters I’ve ever been on. Everything ran smoothly and the atmosphere was brilliant. Even with the summer crowds, it was a 10/10 day. Can't wait to go back!

  Im a regular here at Alton Towers, and today was a bit disappointing. I saw many people queue jumping, long queues to get into the park, and many of the main attractions closing. For some reason they cancelled Early Ride Time for hotel guests and MAP holders, and many rides opened after 10AM. Alton Towers has potential as a theme park, but things like these are what hold it back.

  Just back from staying at the enchanted forest lodges. Was really beautiful with small parks in between all the lodges. Kids had a ball. Rooms were so clean. Staff lovely. Had two meals at the Crooked spoon restaurant within the lodge/village. Food was lovely. Spent the day at Alton towers, queues lengthy as expected with it being Easter weekend. Only negative was the smiler closed whilst kids were standing in the queue. Same thing happened on the oblivion too due to someone losing an item mid ride despite the staff continually asking riders to lock away items. Overall very pleasant experience and will defo be returning.

  Amazing day out and super friendly staff whenever help was needed. Rides tidy and well looked after. Shame about the weather, but nothing the staff can do.

  Some of the rides are great and in the big scheme of things I think the bronze/silver fast passes are not bad value. With universal coming though there needs to be a lot of work on 1) How tired some of the attractions look 2) The customer service skills of the staff (the person in the golf course reception wasn't even ambivalent, she was rude) 3) The communications. Fortunately we noticed in the bar in the alton towers hotel that you'd needed to pre-book breakfast (I know of no major chain that does this). Only slots left were 7 and 10am. Apparently there was an email sent about this but the restaurant manager conceded a number of guests had raised a similar concern and perhaps this email never went out. A slot was eventually found in a different hotel at a reasonable time but if we'd not gone for a drink we would have turned up the next morning expecting to be served when we arrived. I don't see a long term future for Alton Towers unless they invest in customer service and updates.

  Payed a lot of money for fast passes and we turned up and all the rides were closed which was very upsetting as this was meant to be a special day. Only a few rides opened later on during the day which didn’t leave us much time at all. And the some rides didn’t even open at all. We got no compensation for this very disappointing.

  We had an amazing time!! Highly recommend the silver pass! And the trio pass track for CBEEBIES land. The weather was over cast but perfect as not too hot or cold!! We have been in the summer but this was by far better time to come!! A brilliant day out. Arrived at 10 and Stayed till closing!! Even won 3 giant toys!! Highly recommend the visit.

  

• Appalling customer service

  Really disappointed to be writing this review after a long journey and a lot of money spent to be met with such unhelpful staff on check in. I booked two woodland lodges (all together on one booking) one for myself and children, and one for my mum and younger siblings - we checked in and were given our key cards, went outside to find our rooms and realised they were on two seperate ends of the complex, practically as far away as possible from each other. I thought this must be a mistake, went back in to reception to explain and request rooms closer together and was met with ‘no sorry, you haven’t got the same surname so we haven’t put you together’ ?! I was shocked. I explained that the two rooms were both booked under one booking so would therefore expect to be allocated together and was just repeatedly told ‘sorry you haven’t got the same surname so we don’t put you together’. There was no empathy, no attempt to put things right just simply no your names aren’t the same so that’s the way it is. I couldn’t believe it. We regularly go away as a family and have never experienced not being able to be next to each other because me and my mum have different surnames?! Appalling customer service, no understanding, no empathy, a very cold and disappointing response. This trip was a huge expense for us but thought we’d treat the children for Easter which now feels a total waste as this has really put a dampener on things for us - I have very young children so had intended on putting them to bed in the evening and then relaxing out on the terrace with my mum and family, but and I’m now spending the night alone as they are the other side of the complex. This has really spoilt our experience thanks to poor organisation from the reception team, strange rules, and such shocking customer service from them when I explained the issue. As I said, I’m really gutted to have to be writing this review and it’s not something I do lightly, but we certainly won’t be returning.
