The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. A primordial waterway, Lofton Creek features water that is dark in color, created by the tannins which leach into the water as vegetation decays. Replete with bald cypress, sweet gum, and rare flowers like pickerelweed and wild azaleas, this unique ecosystem is reminiscent of an old south bayou – brackish water teeming with unique plants, animals, and reptiles. Native Americans most likely fished these waters and cultivated the land for thousands of years before the Spanish, French, and English arrived in the mid-16th century.

I had an excellent experience our guide( can't remember his name) was funny knowledgeable and just the type of person that loves what he does. We got the opportunity to see two alligators, old train track.The train passed by us. But we did get caught in these. Weeds, but that probably was the best part cause we all chipped in and helped each other, and it's added a little adventure to the trip. I plan to go back down to Jacksonville. This summer, and I would definitely do another excursion with this company..

The views are stunning!! It was unlike any kayaking we had ever done because of the trees and birds. Just beautiful! Our guide Jessica was full of history, fun facts and great knowledge of all the surrounding animals and flora.

Our trip to Cumberland Island was fantastic. The tour guide, CJ, was a wealth of knowledge for the entire trip. The beauty of the island was incredible: the shore birds were sweet and the horses were gorgeous. The tour was three hours long and a great workout! It went so fast with lots of laughs along the way. What a day!
