Amethyst Mine is open from Monday to Saturday until mid April. There are two guided fatbike tours per day and during the visit you will hear the stories of geology and history in addition to the properties of the gems and the uses of amethyst. You will ride to the Amethyst mine with a powerful, electrically assisted fatbike. Bliss' guide will take you to the top of Lampivaara fell (small mountain) where you can enjoy the very top view of the area, over the Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Then you will be seated in wooden shelter, sipping warm berry beverages and listening the facts and beliefs? of this fascinating purple gem stone. After the story moment you will be heading to the digging area. A part of the open digging area is covered by roof, so amethyst searching is possible also during the winter time. Each visitor will be able to dig for their own personal lucky amethyst. In the end of the visit there is some time to drop by a small “Amethyst Shop” on site. The amethyst of the area is refined into jewellery and other productions.

Highly recommended activity well organised but tiring a sign of a great day out with our guide, I'm so sorry I forget her name, but we were transported from Pyhä to Luosto to start our adventure. A quick brief on how the E-bikes worked and we were off. Roads first but soon in the forest tracks. We stopped occasionally for a little information on the area before arriving at the Cafe before the mine. Lovely home made donuts hot coffee and tea. The highlight here apart from the donuts were the Arctic Jay's and lots of them, flew down to sit in your hand to eat nuts our guide had bought with her. Amazing. With other visitors arriving to be transported by vehicles we headed off to the top of the fell. So peaceful with beautiful views. The mines guide gave a short talk about the history of the area and the uses and beliefs of Amethyst stones before going to the mine and finding some gems of our own to keep. Before long it was time to go and outside to the now snow with the views all gone. The decent was again amazingly exhilarating, and even falling off in the deep snow was OK. Going via the forest tracks and back to Luosto. Bliss Adventures do so many activities I would highly recommend booking through them. We're coming back next year and will definitely be booking another adventure with them.

Highly recommend this company. We did several activities with them and they are fabulous. It snowed hard the day we did this tour which made the biking hard going but great fun. The mine tour was very interesting and as with all their tours we were very well looked after from start to finish

It was lots of fun, we had a great guide, super friendly and welcoming. Time went by very fast and the feeling riding the bike on the snow is very nice. The experience in the mine was also very very interesting,and we found some stones to bring home!

Very interesting experience: the bike ride is challenging but fun, surrounded by Finnish nature. The landscape, covered with snow, is suggestive and fascinating. Tiina, the guide, is very kind and considerate, attentive to everyone's needs. Upon arrival at the mine you can search for amethysts and then take them with you. Definitely unique activity, recommended!

We did this tour as a family (49,49,18,15). It was just great - from the first moment we felt super looked after. Kai was also our guide the day before at ice climbing - just nice to us likeable. The e-bikes were top - easy to handle. Then we started through the snowy landscape. First easy on the bike paths and then off through the terrain - just fantastic. A cross-country path through wonderful snowy forests - no one but us. The track is easy and can be mastered easily. The goal: The mine! At first you wonder, as it looks more like abandoned western town, but the report from the mine guide "opens" your eyes. Wonderfully amusing and super informative - great. It is rounded off with our own search for amethysts - this part also gave us all fun - we were successful in addition. So, for us a smooth 1 with asterisks - one of the best tours we've done.

The ride with fat bike in the snow was amazing ! For sure one of the best moments of our trip in Lapland. Our guide was very professional and enjoyable. He helps us to take some nice pictures and videos. I absolutely recommand !

The bike tour to the mine was fantastic. Beautiful paths, attentive guide (Tina) and a great stop at Cafe Lampivaaran - very tasty donuts! The tour of the mine was interesting and searching for your own amethyst was very amusing. The descent on the bikes was the absolute highlight of the tour.
