We were the very first customers of this trip, yet we never once felt like customers. From the very beginning, Sukhrab welcomed us with such warmth, friendliness, and genuine care that it felt as though we were travelling with a friend rather than a guide. Throughout the journey we had many engaging conversations and learned a great deal about local society, culture, and daily life, which made the experience even richer and more meaningful. Sukhrab was extremely attentive to our needs and interests. He kindly took us to the pottery centre that we were especially eager to visit, and although we did not find exactly what we were hoping to buy, he thoughtfully offered alternative recommendations and ensured we still enjoyed the visit. He also shared excellent local food recommendations and even helped us reserve a table for dinner, which we truly appreciated. His care, patience, and hospitality made the entire day feel effortless and deeply personal. As for the destination itself, the fortress is a remarkable hidden gem. Although it is still largely unknown even to many locals, it is incredibly atmospheric and fascinating to explore. Climbing around the ruins, surrounded by such calm and silence, felt like stepping back in time. The area is peaceful, beautiful, and full of historical character, and we could clearly imagine how magnificent it must have been in its medieval prime. With the restoration and development that is already underway, we strongly believe that within a few years this place will become a major highlight for visitors, once its surroundings are fully rebuilt according to their historical glory. The combination of Sukhrab’s warm and sincere hospitality with the unique beauty and tranquillity of this site made this one of the most memorable experiences of our stay in Khiva. For travellers seeking something beyond the usual tourist route — a rare glimpse into the past, guided by someone who truly cares — we wholeheartedly recommend this trip. It is a unique treasure and an unforgettable journey.
