  I think our guides name was Rolao, I’m not certain, but he was amazing. We were able to tour different places and experience Guatemala in a fun and interactive way!

  I had an amazing time on this tour. My guide was friendly and engaging. I did this tour solo but def didn’t feel like I was alone. I def recommend to everyone!

• Scenic and Fun, But Watch Out for Extra Charges

  Overall, this was a fun experience. You meet people from all over the world, the guide was friendly, Cerro de la Cruz is beautiful, and Hobbitenango was a great time. If you’re looking for a social, scenic ATV tour around Antigua, there’s definitely a lot to enjoy here. My main issue is with the cacao shop / lunch portion of the tour, which felt deceptive. The guide told us we would learn about cacao and then eat lunch at the restaurant. Naturally, that makes it sound like lunch is part of the tour. At no point did the guide or company make it clear that the food was not included. You’re given samples of three Guatemalan dishes so you can decide which one you want, and again, no one explains that this is leading up to an extra charge. So you assume, “Great, they’re feeding us.” Then the bill comes. What makes it worse is that you're served pre-made mediocre tourist food that is insanely overpriced. After that, you’re funneled straight into the gift shop, where the prices are just as ridiculous. In some cases, you'll pay double or triple what you’d pay in the U.S. for simple items like cacao tea. This did not ruin the experience, but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to the company. I didn't trust them after this. The overall tour itself was enjoyable, but the way this stop is handled feels designed to steer tourists into spending a lot more money without being upfront about it. My advice: There are other companies to book with but if you do go with this tour, enjoy it for the scenery, the people, and the fun stops, but know in advance that lunch is not included. Save your money and get something authentic after the tour. And if you want to support local businesses, do it on your own in Antigua by booking directly with locals and buying from independent shops. Avoid the overpriced restaurants and stores connected to the tour.

• One Ride to Rule Them All

  This tour was the highlight of our whole trip. We spent hours riding ATVs through the town of Antigua in perfect weather, and got to see several landmarks. If you are a Lord of the Rings fan, you CANNOT miss this. My wife enjoyed Hobbitenango so much that she cried. Our tour guide Darrell spent the whole day with us. He was super nice and engaging as he taught us the history of Guatemala.

  My family and I had a blast today on this ATV tour. Beautiful views and great company! Our tour guide made sure we were safe and never left us behind. They had helmets to fit my 7yr old. There were bathrooms and food options at every stop. I really appreciate that they broke us up into small groups with our own guide. I highly recommend booking with Simoon Rentals and Tours!

  I enjoyed every moment of the tour!! I had no experience riding ATVs before the tour and my guide had no problems answering extra questions when he gave us the tutorial at the beginning. We spent hours exploring the city and had fun along the way. Although I travelled solo I made connections within my group and enjoyed everyone’s company.

  This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Guatemala. Gio was a great tour guide and it was a super fun day starting with the enchanted Forrest land of hobbitanango and then touring around multiple cultural sites around Antigua on 4-wheeler. It was an adventure and a learning experience, great way to spend a day!

  The tour was well run. We had a delay in our departure because someone in the group was late. However it didn’t seem to affect the tour. The guide Estuardo (Tuey) took great care of us, making sure we were all together on the road at all times. There were a couple people in our group who needed a little more attention and he did great. His English was good, but not great, which for me didn’t affect the enjoyment of the tour. He was very nice and I could tell putting in a lot of effort to ensure everyone had a great time. I found the ATV rides from one area to the next very exciting and u like anything I have experienced. It was interesting to see how the locals drive (like crazy!!) and also how the locals live outside of the town of Antigua. My husband really enjoyed Hobbitenango and I thought an hour there was plenty. The lunch and chocolate tour felt very authentic (I think we were in San Juan del Obispo? But no one really said).
