Do you like hiking, snowshoeing and exploring?
This private tour will take you and your closest ones into the Arctic wonders, for an unforgettable experience!
With a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser, we will reach the most beautiful areas that Tromsø region has to offer.
Based on the weather and your wishes, we will discover the sandy beaches and deep fjords of the coastal islands or the backcountry sceneries of the mainland.
Once there, we will venture for a scenic hike through pristine landscapes, mountain lakes and breathtaking views!
When needed, you will be provided with ice crampons or snow rackets, walking poles & thermal suits, as well as foot and hand warmers. Remember to have your own waterproof hiking boots (*snow boots in winter)!
Your guide will take photos of you and the landscape, but if you have a camera as well, bring it along!
An outdoor picnic with a view made of warm soup, cookies and hot drinks will warm us up while out in the wild Arctic, before heading back to Tromsø.

This tour is not suitable for people with any injury, sickness, movement disability, wheelchairs, walkers, crutches. It is an active tour.

You must advise us of any specific dietary requirements at time of booking as well as medical condition if needed.
This tour operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately. Make sure you wear warm and water resistant clothes and have an extra layer with you and shoes/boots that are suitable for winter hiking and snow.
If you are travelling with kids younger than 13 or shorter than 150 cm - 59 inches please let us know their age and height so we can provide you with the correct car booster seat.

Tromso Fjords
At the beginning of the tour, your guide will analyze the weather forecasts in order to predict the best area for this outdoor activity. We will then set off aboard our capable 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser for a scenic drive along the fjords and valleys on the surrounding islands near Tromsø. Once there, depending on the weather and terrain conditions, you will be provided with the necessary equipment to go for a walk or a light hike in order to get to the most scenic locations, admire unforgettable views, get some great photos as souvenir and enjoy a warm lunch before heading back to Tromsø.

5.00We spent an incredible day in Sommarøy with Nicola, and I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our trip. Nicola is a very experienced guide who really knows the area well—he took us to places we would have never found on our own. He brought us to some amazing panoramic viewpoints, the kind of spots where you just have to stop and take it all in. The views were stunning, and perfect for anyone who loves photography. Nicola is also a skilled photographer himself, so if you're into taking photos—whether you're a beginner or more advanced—he’s a great person to have around. He knows where to go, how to frame the shot, and he’s happy to share tips. Sommarøy itself is a dream: white beaches, crystal clear water, and the contrast with the Arctic surroundings is just something you don’t expect. At one point, we even saw a moose and a group of reindeer. That moment alone made the day unforgettable—it felt like something out of a nature documentary. What I really appreciated is that Nicola made the whole experience relaxed but still super interesting. He knows how to read the group, gives you space to enjoy the moment, but is always there if you need anything or have questions. It was a full day of trekking, exploring, laughing, learning, and just enjoying the outdoors in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. Definitely an experience I’ll remember for a long time—and one I’d recommend to anyone visiting the area.

5.00We have been to remote regions. Beautiful landscapes and views. Due to the rather bad weather, unfortunately few animals seen. Nico showed us beautiful photo motifs and told us a lot of information. He made the end of the fjord so beautiful with a warm soup and drinks. Thank you was a great day.

5.00The tour with Nico was excellently organised, very comfortable and a lot of fun. We were picked up in his very well-equipped and comfy off-road truck and started our tour. Over the course of the day, we made several stops along the way, where we enjoyed particularly beautiful views and photo opportunities. The landscapes were fantastic and we were able to see and photograph a wide range of wildlife. The guide repeatedly pointed out historical details of the area and told us a lot about the surrounding nature. We will definitely book again next time! Thank you Nico!

5.00A word to define Nicola: AMAZING! we made 3 excursions and at the first I thought "this is a crazy wild!" but who has passion in what he does and you see it, he looks for and knows incredible places, hidden from the crowd and makes you visit enchanted places, out of time and spectacular. Always kind and with a maniacal attention to detail, organized and always with special attention to the guests of his adventures. With him we experienced the thrill of seeing ocean cliffs, lunar landscapes, fairytale landscapes, frozen lakes and last but not least a spectacular dinner at -27° in Finland! All with equipment that makes available to guests not to feel the cold (if my wife made it....) ah I forgot, he is an excellent photographer and in the service there are even his photos that will make the memories of these unforgettable excursions Grande Nicola!

5.00I cannot recommend Nico the Arctic Photo Guide enough! We were a family of four with a 8 and 10yo and had a wonderful time hiking up to Tverrfjellet on Kvaløya island with great views at the top. Nico has an extensive knowledge of the area and made the whole trip seem effortless. He even provided hot soup and drinks, which we had once we got down from the mountain as the wind was quite strong that day. This isn't just a regular or average tour, if you go with Nico you get an exclusive adventure tailored to your needs and preferences! We came home with both happy memories and fantastic photos! 5.00Wonderful guide - Nico! Very good knowledge and photo skills. Unpredictable weather and able to navigate through it and alter itinerary accordingly. Be ready to be wowed - Sightseeing fjords with picnic, Aurora hunting, campfire and star gazing experience. You’ll never regret your decision to go on this tour with Nico as your private guide!
