  Even though the cost seems a little expensive at first ( $200 for 2 e-bikes for 4 hours), I can assure you that it is well worth it. It is stunning and the orange bridge trail to bungee jumping will take you every bit of 3 and a half hours return when you adds photo stops and breaks. But don’t kid yourself it would be difficult without an e-bike and I am an ex triathlete. Yes it is only 26 km return but the short sharp hills and twisty paths prevents you from getting a run up. I would be cautious about taking young children as there are sheer cliff gorges right next to the unfenced bike path in parts. The operator was terrific. Kind, thoughtful and precise. A wonderful experience.

  It was an amazing, breathtaking bike ride. We rode regular bikes and visited four wineries, with transfers to and from our hotel in Queenstown. The autumn views truly made the whole trip unforgettable.

  We had a fantastic experience with Better By Bike in Arrowtown. The bikes were top-quality—comfortable, well-maintained, and perfect for the trail. The service was excellent, with a friendly and helpful team that made the rental process easy and gave great advice on the route. We rode from Arrowtown to Gibbston and back, and it was an absolutely beautiful ride—gorgeous scenery, fun trails, and plenty of great spots to stop along the way. It was a perfect way to explore the area at our own pace. Highly recommend Better By Bike if you’re looking for a fun and easy way to experience the stunning landscapes around Arrowtown!

  Sue and the Bostonian are the bomb. The bicycle was the bomb. If you are doing the wine ride, when you get to the edge of the deer farm and you see an option to turn right, DO NOT turn right!!! Unless you like extra hills lol and want to do the Twin Rivers Trial. Still, a great day was had.

  The booking process on the phone was super smooth . They asked us lots of questions to get the bike type and size right . When we got there checking in was very efficient ( though they were busy). They explained the routes , made recommendations ( awesome ones by the way ! ) based on what we were capable of doing ( we are not biking enthusiast usually ! ) and we ended up doing a 40km ride with some awesome views, great food stops and wineries . There is also free parking on site ( it gets busy so plan to be there early ). The shop is a few metres away from the main town so it’s very easy to get to the shop if you are not with a car. Also the e bikes were great with super long and powerful batteries . The path are nicely insulating so even for non experts you can have a great time

  The bike hire was great, the store front was located conveniently near the trails and the team were super helpful! We hired plain old mountain bikes and did the arrow rivers bridges trail which was an easy bike ride with picturesque views. The trail was quite busy so we decided to return via the lower Shotover trail and the country trail, both a little more challenging. I’d highly recommend hiring a bike for a day and doing at least the arrow river bridges trail, if you’re reasonably fit a mountain bike will be fine but if you want a helping hand up hills or plan to do a longer ride I’d give the e-bike a go!

  Beautiful e-bike ride from Arrowtown to the fabulous Mt Rosa Vineyard in the Gibbston Valley. Great spot for lunch and wine tasting. Meg at Better By Bike was so friendly and made everything very quick and easy - we were on our way in no time. Great pickup service from the winery too as we only planned a one way trip so we could do more and take our time along the way. Bloody great!

• Great Ride from Arrowtown

  I was staying in Queenstown and visiting Arrowtown for the morning. I was up for a several hour ride in the afternoon. Better by Bike had a great ride first along the Arrow River and then along the Twin Rivers trail. I opted to end up at their office at the Hilton Jetty. I was able to drop the bike there and then take the water taxi back to Queenstown, thereby avoiding any shuttles. While in good shape for a 74 year old, it turned out to be a challenging 17.5 mile ride with hill climbing up Thompsons Hill, including switchbacks, before the trail dropped down again to river level. So it was a beautiful combination of flat trails along the rivers and some hills. Great work-out with incredible natural beauty. The trail was in very good condition. I should have stopped for a drink at the Hilton's bar, which is next to the Better by Bike office, and looks out at the water, but I was running late. The bike worked well and the directions from the staff were terrific, fortunately; this was crucial because I left my trail map behind.

  Very friendly helpful company who offered good bikes, we chose not to go with electric and it was a little hilly. Extremely enjoyable day and stopped at a winery along the way. Highly recommend

  Had a great experience with Better by Bike. I travelled to Arrowtown from Frankton by public bus and cycled back and dropped off my bike at the Hilton, Frankton site. This encompassed parts of two trails and the lady in the office (sorry forgot name) gave me a good overview of where to go and signs to look out for etc and what to expect from the trails. The bike itself was a moustache e-bike in great condition and it even had a little pannier I was able to pop my backpack in. Really easy to use but again a full overview given. I had been given the recommendation to use Better By Bike by another bike company who were fully booked and honesty I can’t imagine getting a better service from them. Plenty of trails to choose from. I enjoyed the twin rivers trail and being able to cross a few bridges. It was a great few hours taking it at my own pace and enjoying the scenery.
