5.00Scotty was fantastic from start to finish – friendly, punctual, knowledgeable and great fun. The train to Arthur’s Pass was a real experience with stunning scenery, plus great coffee and breakfast onboard. We did the Devil’s Punchbowl Walk – 400+ steps and absolutely worth it (wear good shoes… not Birkenstocks!). Scotty even had umbrellas for the changeable weather. Perfect lunch spot, great food and wine, and a beautiful ride back to Christchurch. A must-do day trip – worth every penny!

4.00The train itself was comfortable and clean and the scenery was unbelievable. The viewing platforms were overcrowded and views were obstructed by bars. Unfortunately, during the most spectacular views, the viewing platforms were closed because we were in and out of tunnels. There was no loudspeaker commentary on the views or stops but once we boarded, we were informed of an audio we could listen to, but we had packed our headphones and the audio would not run on the phones speakers. It would have been informative to have some commentary because 90% of the passengers were tourists and we would have liked to know where we were and what we were seeing. The ride ended up just being transportation.

5.00Take appropriate shoes if you intend to walk the Devil's Pumpkin, also water. Well worth the views. Spectacular lunch at exquisite place

2.00Considering the hype, the views left me wanting more. No amazing scenery and the viewing cars are too small for the swathes of tourists wanting to go out and get selfies in front of the fast passing landscapes. Much better more scenic train journeys in other places

3.00trip was fun and Terry was a good guide. Though the info provided in advance describing the trip was totally inadequate and misleading. Had we known it included a 40 minute hike we would have worn different shoes and brought water.... And. at minimum, we should have been given a chance to buy water before being dropped off to walk/ hike. The lunch site was magnificent and the sheep farm was a nice way to end the day.
The entire day was wonderful!

5.00We had a wonderful day tour with Jude! She offered a sense of humor and interesting tidbits as we drove along in the tour van after our train ride. The train ride was very enjoyable as was the lunch afterwards at a beautiful secluded restaurant that had a beautiful landscape and interesting animals. Jude made sure we got to see the keas, a native bird to New Zealand, and also took us to see a sheep shearing demonstration at a local sheep farm, where snacks and tea were served, and there was a chance to buy New Zealand's items such as wool and lanolin products.

5.00We had a great day. Graham was very fun and informative and a careful driver. The train ride is smooth and the sights are beautiful. The stops on the way back were great but the sheep farm was my favorite. It’s a full day that was well worth our time and money

5.00Great day out The train ride and views were amazing Graham, picked us up and took care of us whilst showing us details and views of Arthur’s Pass Lunch was excellent!!! The farm stop completed the day!!!
