Pangue Observatory is probably the best Astrotourism Observatory in Chile, its privileged location at 1300 meters above sea level and the absence of light pollution teaches the universe, galaxies and stellar objects of the Southern Hemisphere like nowhere else in the world. The El Pangue Observatory has two types of tours, the classic tour (16" telescope) and the extreme tour (25" telescope). The number of stellar objects to observe is the largest that can be obtained in an astronomical tour in Chile, from 8 to 12 objects are seen. We recommend booking in advance as spaces are limited.

No one picked me up.....no emails.....no contact at all !!! I am very disappointed, in not making it to the observatory, and having already paid $175.00 U.S.. .... Trying to find the local tour operator and expect a refund. Coleman Johnson

I’ve done a few astronomical tours before, and this one was by far the best. The location is ideal—far enough from Vicuña to avoid light pollution, and set at about 1,500 meters of altitude. The sky was as clear as in Pisco Elqui, but without the need to travel so deep into the Andes, and in September it wasn’t nearly as cold. We had two excellent guides, both extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. The telescope was the largest I’ve ever seen on a tour (a massive 25 inches!), which allowed us to see details I’d never experienced before—even groups of galaxies. Truly incredible. Yes, it is a bit more expensive than other options, but absolutely worth it. Highly recommended, especially for foreign visitors, as both guides spoke excellent English. Unforgettable experience—I would do it again in a heartbeat!
