Changing of the Guard Ceremony

Next, we’ll stroll through the charming streets of Plaka, the oldest neighborhood in Athens. Your host will guide you to the grand Metropolitan Cathedral and the historic Small Mitropolis, before exploring the lively heart of Plaka. As we walk along Tripodon Street, the oldest in Europe, you’ll discover the impressive Lysicrates Monument and hear stories of its connection to ancient theatrical competitions.

5.00This was such a great time! Our guide Emily was knowledgeable, fun and very engaging. It was so good to see parts of the city we wouldn’t have found on our own and even better to get explanations and history of these places! Dinner was also great! You can’t go wrong with tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Emily as your guide!

5.00My girlfriend and I had a very enjoyable evening taking this tour on our first day in Athens. We were the only two people on the tour following a late dropout, so had the benefit of what was essentially a private tour for the evening. Our guide, Emily, was brilliant. She has a degree in archaeology and was very knowledgeable. More importantly, she brought a lot of personality and energy to the evening. It felt more like touring the city with a friend. The meal that was included was very nice. Very good portion sizes, good service, and a pleasant location. There's a lot of walking involved and some of it is hilly, but don't let that put you off what is a terrific activity. I would definitely recommend this for those coming to Athens for the first time, and if you can schedule this for your first day then all the better.

5.00Emily and her trainee Marina were great tour guides. Emily was joyful and made it easy for all of us on the tour to feel at ease and become evening friends. Both Emily and Marina were easy to talk with and they each had great insights about the local customs and beauty of Athens. Our meal together was full of great food and laughter. What began as a touring walk ended with everyone feeling more connected and happy to have shared an evening in Greece together.

5.00What a wonderful experience! Our guide was Emily and it ended up being just us with her. It was unexpected but definitely welcomed! She took us all around Plaka Market, skirted around the area of the Acropolis and both the Roman Agora and Ancient Agora. We also went through a beautiful neighborhood of Anafiotika. We had a great dinner and afterwards got to see the Acropolis & Parthenon lit up in the dark. Emily was amazing and quite knowledgeable. We felt like we were talking with an old friend the whole time!
