Ancient Theater of Thorikos

Experience a journey back in time with our guided tour from Athens to Cape Sounion. Depart Athens with a friendly escort (archaeologist) by bus from the Halandri Metro station and reach Cape Sounio when the sun is about to set. The best moment to enjoy the picturesque area of Sounio is during sunset. Walk around the magnificent Temple of Poseidon, one of the most important temples in central Greece and second most important after the Temple of Acropolis. Discover the signature on the marbles of various famous authors who passed by the Cape of Sounio as the romance author Lord Byron (1810A.C) who couldn’t resist and left his marking on it. Let the romance aspect of Sounio travel you while you watch the idyllic sunset fading into the clear blue Aegean Sea. Really nice experience! we went first for a short stop at the ancient Thorikos theatre and then to Sounio. We had had a beautiful sunset. Bus is comfortable, guide told us many interesting details. We were dropped in Syntagma square, which was great.

I was very hesitant about whether or not to take this tour—and especially which agency to use. However, I'm VERY happy I chose to do it. First, the itinerary is great. We didn't leave central Athens, so we didn't hit much traffic. I loved stopping at the theater on the way. Second, the guide! What an incredible person. She knew SO much about history, was ready to answer questions, and made the entire experience impeccable. And about the temple, there's not much to say: it's a beautiful sight. Seeing the temple facing the sea, in a setting worthy of a movie: excellent. Furthermore, I'd like to congratulate everyone on the organization and ease of communication. I was extremely satisfied. I recommend it to everyone.

We arrived at the metro ahead of time...Just in case. Seats on bus are comfy. They have a snack/ bathroom break stop. The first stop was good and informative. The final stop was breathtaking. This is really a must when you visit Athens. The temple is very interesting. But the sunset is the highlight IMO.

We had a perfect sunset with the temple. We have lots of memories and pictures. The tour itself was pretty good. The only place to eat was at the temple and it was slow, busy and aggravating. Also the bathrooms weren’t working so we had to make another stop which I was great til for. These issues distracted from the quality of the tour, but it was still a good time.
