What To Expect
Start your experience with an early morning pickup by 4x4 vehicle from your Marrakech hotel and travel to the launch spot for your sunrise hot air balloon ride. Enjoy refreshments including pastries, coffee and tea as you watch your expert crew inflate the hot air balloon. Then, step into the basket and take to the skies! Each basket holds a maximum of 16 people and there’s plenty of room for you to sightsee comfortably as you soar up and away. Soak up the serene desert landscape as your pilot takes you over the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains on a 40-50 minute flight (depending on wind and weather conditions). After touching down at the base camp, head inside a tent with a view of the mountains to enjoy a freshly prepared Berber breakfast, including pancakes, corn bread, fruit, olives and mint tea. Follow your breakfast with a guided camel ride through the Palmeraie desert village surrounding the camp. Before leaving, you’ll be presented with a flight certificate to commemorate your Marrakech hot air balloon experience. Then, travel by 4x4 vehicle back to your hotel in the late morning, allowing you to enjoy the rest of the day in Marrakech.

3.00The hot air balloon flight itself was absolutely the highlight of this tour. Although the balloon took off after sunrise, it was still early and actually launched before the other providers. Our pilot, Elena, was fantastic — she navigated the balloon smoothly and shared interesting insights about the desert and the landscape below. Also, the coffee and croissant before the flight was a thoughtful touch and a pleasant surprise. That said, the overall experience had some organizational issues. There was no guide, only a driver, and we were often left unsure of what to do or expect at different stops. There was a lot of waiting around with no real explanation — at times it felt like we were just being moved from place to place without direction or context. The camel ride felt more like a checkbox activity than a real experience. It was very short and lacked any cultural background or interaction. And again, there was a significant amount of idle time, just waiting with no clear communication. In summary, the balloon ride and pilot were excellent, and the morning coffee added a nice touch, but the rest of the tour could use much better organization and clearer communication. With a proper guide and less wasted time, this could be a truly outstanding experience.

5.00This balloon ride was the highlight of my trip. I had never been on a hot air balloon ride and right from the early morning tea and breakfast and professional transportation to watching the balloon get set up and take off was more than we could have hoped for. Perfect experience.
