  An enthusiastic review and recommendation for the tour-guide services of Augusnel Charlot, from a USA traveler who visited Cap-Haitien and nearby areas in early 2026. Augusnel has guided visitors for more than a decade, focusing on the cultural and natural richness and beauty of north Haiti, though he can also show you around other parts of the nation (for example, Jacmel, Jeremie, and Les Cayes). I contacted Augusnel well in advance of my four-day trip. We worked out an agenda that included airport pick-up and drop-off, a walking tour of in-town Cap-Haitien sites and its colorful architecture, Labadee village, the awesome and world-famous Citadelle Laferriere (getting up there is half the fun!) and Sans Souci palace, and a full day of turquoise-water boating (with a lunch of freshly caught, deliciously cooked seafood) to idyllic tropical Amiga Island and Cadras Beach. He can offer suggestions and tailor-make an itinerary that suits your exact travel desires. People around the area know Augusnel, and he also engages trusted assistants for boat captaining, meal preparation, etc., as needed. Whether you’re a solo traveler, in a small group, in a large group, on vacation, or on business, Augusnel is the one to welcome you to Haiti. (To note, U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere for everything and can easily be exchanged for gourde too. Be sure to get some pretty souvenirs at the Cap-Haitien Marche Artisanal and on the way to/from the Citadelle.) Augusnel speaks fluent Creole, French, and English, and knows some Spanish too. He thoroughly understands the nation’s history and local lore, so your visit will be enriched with not just the sights and sounds of Haiti, but also the meaning of what you’re experiencing.   I only had a day in Cap Haiti and was traveling solo. Augusnel picked me from the airport, gave me a tour of the town and the key sights, then dropped me off at my hotel.   I had a fantastic trip to northern Haiti with my son, nine years old. This was his first visit since he was 2 and Augusnel was amazing at making it suitable for him and all his interests, from having his hair braided to playing football with local kids. It was a smooth and positive experience start to finish, and I especially valued Augusnel’s open communication and precautionary approach. This was a really special and important trip for us and I am grateful to Augusnel for making it possible!

  Augusnel Tours took me 2,5 days on tour in and around Cap-Haïtien. We went, off course, to the Citadelle and Palais Sans Souci, but also, on my demand, to the historical places Bois Caiman, Fort Liberté and Bord de Mer. And Augusnel and I visited, in the evening, some of the bars in Cap-Haïtien. Augusnel was very caring and I felt very safe during the whole trip. He was always on time when we had an appointment.

  I booked a tour of the Citadelle and Sans Souci palace with Augusnel through his website, and he quickly contacted me over Whatsapp. My trip to Haiti was at the last minute, but Augusnel was still able to work with me to schedule a tour. He was an excellent guide, punctual and professional. I speak no French, but Augusnel spoke very good English and was able to help this blanc navigate Haiti for the first time. At the Citadelle and palace, Augusnel was able to speak authoritatively on the history and answer all of my questions. I would absolutely recommend Augusnel if you’re looking for a guide for any activites in the Cap-Haitien area.

• An Unforgettable Week in Haiti - A True Gem of a Getaway!

  The week leading up to my trip to Haiti, had me so stressed. Why? Because I did not even have plans; but I knew for sure that I was not going to allow my mother to lift a finger during her birthday. The week before my flight, I was scouring Google for things to do and came across two different tour guides for Haiti. I reached out to both and only Augusnel responded back promptly. Thank goodness. I was so grateful! While conversing with him back & forth, trying to iron-out all the details… I realized that his customer-service skills were already above & beyond my expectations which confirmed me booking with him and his company. I informed him that this was a surprise birthday for my mother and he understood the assignment thoroughly. From September 13th to 21st, I embarked on a surprise birthday trip to Haiti to be with my mother, and l’ll honestly say that had the best time of my life (and I went to Japan 🇯🇵 earlier this year...) Augusnel made every moment unforgettable with his warm hospitality, local knowledge, and genuine care. He even picked my mother up from her place of residence and then picked me up at the airport upon arrival. My hotel reservation with Satama was cancelled and he immediately took me to the others on the boulevard, where I was able to snag a room at the *Comfort Plus Hotel. Great staff there as well. We explored three breathtaking beaches; Amiga Island, Cadras & Belly Beach in Cap Haitien, each with crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white sands, and a tranquil atmosphere that felt like a slice of paradise. The seafood lunches that he provided were absolutely divine - fresh, flavorful and perfectly prepared. Showcasing the rich bounty of the Haitian coast. Our culinary adventure continued with visits to three charming restaurants along the Boulevard (Lakay, Cap Deli & Boukanye) where every dish was a delightful explosion of authentic flavors. From succulent grilled fish to vibrant local specialties, the food was not only delicious but also served in inviting, picturesque settings Highlights of the tour included visits to the historic Sans Souci Palace and Fort Liberté, where the tour guide's passionate storytelling and expert translations brought Haiti’s fascinating history to life. He also ensured we navigated currency-exchanges confidently, protecting us from any confusion or overcharging when converting American dollars to Haitian gourdes. This experience was truly a 10/10 - seamless, enriching, and packed with unforgettable moments. l highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an authentic, enriching, and absolutely delightful Haitian adventure. Augusnel, thank you for making this birthday surprise so special. I am indebted to you. He knows Haiti like the back of his hand! BOOK WITH HIM ASAP!!!!!!!!!   I went on a solo trip with Augusnel Tour in Cap Haitien and Labadee, and it was such a great experience! I felt safe the whole time, which was really important to me since I was traveling alone. The tour was well planned, and I got to see both the history of Cap Haitien and the beauty of Labadee. Augusnel was friendly, professional, and made sure everything went smoothly.
