Training is accompanied by certified instructors, and students are grouped by age and experience level, ensuring that the number of students per class allows close and dedicated monitoring by the instructor. In surf lessons for beginners the basic principles of surfing such as paddling, surf tackle techniques, take off (board stand technique), stance (correct board posture) and wave trimming are trained.

In surf lessons for beginners we welcome students – children, youngsters and adults – who want to get started safely. Before sea training, students will be introduced to safety conditions and will be trained to read, understand and predict sea conditions and learn to act accordingly.

5.00We had a fantastic experience with West Surf Project. The lessons are well-structured and gradually build up, which really helps in gaining confidence on the board. What impressed us the most is how they take the time to consider each child individually. The trainers are incredibly kind and make sure every child feels comfortable and supported. It's such a child-friendly environment, and the instructors are patient and encouraging. Highly recommend this surf school for a fun and safe surfing experience!

5.00Me (wife) and my 2 sons aged 9 and 13 had surfing lessons from Simon, top surf instructor at the West Surf Project. Booking the lesson was easy through the very friendly owner Antonio. It was our first experience surfing and it was great. There was friendly and passionate teaching with clear instructions. We surfed in different places because of the height of the waves. We can recommend the West Surf Project to everyone.

5.00Excellent surf school. Very good at teaching and made younger children (aged 6&9) really enjoy the experience and also feel safe Very good instruction and easily contactable. Look forward to coming back to Portugal to surf with them again. Focused on small groups so could really understand the instructions and try and put them into practice.
