Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal.

You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.

Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

When exceptional situations arise (e.g. environmental cancellations) it is important to reach you. This is easiest if you provide your contact number on the road (phone number + correct country code) & keep this with you on the day of the tour.

We only drop off at set drop off locations: Scandic Ishavhotel, Smarthotel, AMIhotel, Vervet, Wandering Owl office, Airport, Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø Camping bus stop, Breivika Cruise Dock

Winter equipment is included, please give us your clothing and shoe sizes - fill out ewaiver form

Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking as well as medical condition if needed

Please bring your passport with you in case you need to cross to Finland during the tour

Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately. Make sure you wear a warm base layer, winter clothes including warm shoes, a hat, mittens, a scarf and woolen socks.

A small amount of walking is involved, you must be able to walk 200m

Please be prepared for limited toilet facilities, there will be a gas station stop during the drive, however the camp itself is in the wild Arctic nature where the only toilet possibilities are in the forest (there are no pre-built facilities).

Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if less than 4 passengers per tour. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund

We provide home-made vegan and gluten free soup

You must travel with travel insurance.

SIGN OUR eWAIVER. We need one participant to sign it on behalf of the group making sure that the names of all participants are in the document.

Fantastic tour with stunning Northern Lights

Our lovely guide Magda and driver Cris made sure we had a great evening, according to forecasts, collaboration with other guides and Magda’s experience on the icey roads (with Cris driving really well) we headed towards inland, made camp in a quiet place, had some soup and a bit of scientific introduction about the Northern Lights. It was freezing cold, so we changed into the thermal suits and boots (they’re asking about your sizes, but learn from my mistake, when you’re taking your measurements make sure not to forget about what clothes will you wear, e.g. thick coat, thick woolen socks, so go for the bigger sizes to make sure you got plenty of air in between your layers, since air and friction is the best insulation, and if you can move your toes in the boots it’s better then any heating sticker or anything!) We were waiting for some time, witnessing the development of the lights, and after a while we started to had back. Many of us were a bit disappointed about the intensity of the phenomenon from the first place but when we started to head back to Tromsø Magda was constantly updating herself about the current forecasts and we did several other stops and saw some really intense and beautiful auroras!! We also saw Lady Aurora dancing for us! Magda was also taking beautiful pictures of us during the whole trip which she sent us right next day. If you’re hesitating weather it’s worth to go on an Aurora Hunt or not, I think it’s absolutely worth it, especially if you can’t drive yourself, don’t have much experience and don’t have a camera with a tripod and experience in photography. All in all it was a nice evening, with nice people in the group (12 of us, the maximum is 15).

After 6 nights of cloudy skies on the island of Ulobybukt, we started last Friday from Tromsø with Mixu and Christóbtal to find the gap in the clouds for Northern Lights. After a brief stop at a hidden grotto with a green sky and hanging icicles in the foreground, we continued on to a frozen lake. And there, the spectacular show began. The Northern Lights danced above us in a 360-degree arc. What magical impressions. We will not forget this experience and keep it in our hearts. Many thanks to Mixu for this wonderful experience, the background information about the aurora, stars, planets and much more. And many thanks to Christóbal for the safe driving. We'll be back.

Fabulous night! We saw the beautiful Aurora and our guides Mikso and Ellie were excellent (until they dropped us off at 1am to walk 1/2km home in unfamiliar streets) ...but I don't want the ending to dampen a fantastic experience. Guides were informative and looked after us during the tour - the duty of care ends on the trip home.

Our tour guide and captain were great and friendly, we were unfortunate to see the northern lights, I believe due to the cloudy weather however, had fun around the bonfire, soup was delicious. I would say that was more of a camping experience than a hunting one. I was hoping for more haunting to maximise our chances as we stopped in 2 places only.

This was an amazing experience. The sky was clear, but the concern of clouds, brought us further south west from Tromso. We saw amazing lights, and our guide and driver were amazing. Thank you Michael and Pavlo

We had an absolutely unforgettable Northern Lights experience with guides Pablo and Michael. Despite a very poor weather forecast, their knowledge, persistence, and deep understanding of local conditions made all the difference. They carefully monitored the skies, adjusted locations strategically, and positioned us exactly where we needed to be. Thanks to their experience and dedication, we were rewarded with several hours of breathtaking aurora displays dancing across the sky. It was clear throughout the trip that we were in expert hands. Their professionalism, enthusiasm, and determination turned what could have been a disappointing night into a truly magical adventure. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a guided Northern Lights tour you can genuinely trust.
A lifetime experience with the northern lights

First of all there is no guarantee of see the northern lights as it totally depends on the weather. Second the naked eye will not see it as the pictures show. Third and most important this was a lifetime experience that you should try to have it. It was a wonderful experience. The guide, Anna, and the driver Vteck, wete amazing people who helped us a lot and had a lot of very good information. They are super friendly and I totally recommend them for your next trip.

An amazing experience- highly recommend! We were lucky with the weather however Fabian and Michael were extremely knowledgeable Aurora chasers who knew exactly where to go and what to do. A slick operation and unforgetable evening.
