Come with us for your Aurora hunt for an amazing and ethical experience underneath the Aurora Borealis. Leave the light pollution in Tromsø behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this tour, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts & use local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights. When we find the best spot, we will dress in warm thermal suits and boots, make a cosy campfire, and enjoy a homemade meal.
You'll be shown how to use your camera, photograph the Aurora, and our guides will take photos of you, available for free in web-sized resolution after the tour.
Enjoy our hot chocolate before being returned to Tromsø island to your hotel. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing this phenomenon, our experienced team will do their best every night of the season.

When exceptional situations arise (e.g. environmental cancellations) it is important to reach you. This is easiest if you provide your contact number on the road (phone number + correct country code) & keep this with you on the day of the tour.
We only drop off at set drop off locations: Scandic Ishavhotel, Smarthotel, AMIhotel, Vervet, Wandering Owl office, Airport, Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø Camping bus stop, Breivika Cruise Dock
Winter equipment is included, please give us your clothing and shoe sizes - fill out ewaiver form
Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking as well as medical condition if needed
Please bring your passport with you in case you need to cross to Finland during the tour
Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately. Make sure you wear a warm base layer, winter clothes including warm shoes, a hat, mittens, a scarf and woolen socks.
A small amount of walking is involved, you must be able to walk 200m
Please be prepared for limited toilet facilities, there will be a gas station stop during the drive, however the camp itself is in the wild Arctic nature where the only toilet possibilities are in the forest (there are no pre-built facilities).
Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if less than 4 passengers per tour. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund
We provide home-made vegan and gluten free soup
You must travel with travel insurance.
SIGN OUR eWAIVER. We need one participant to sign it on behalf of the group making sure that the names of all participants are in the document.

4.00The guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and chased the lights for hours. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side that night as the clouds hid the lights. We did eventually see a glimpse of the lights and hoped that the clouds would open up more, but no. The guide took us to many places so did her best. A nice fire was made as we sat around it, with soup & coffee.

5.00Hands down, we had an amazing experience with our guide and driver, Coen and Vitek. We were also incredibly lucky to see the Northern Lights, which made the trip even more unforgettable. Both of them were professional, fun, and truly dedicated to giving everyone the best experience. Sitting right behind them, we could see how well they worked together and how thoughtfully they coordinated everything for the group. Coen also patiently took photos for all of us, helping capture some wonderful memories. The hot soup, campfire, hot cocoa, and cookies were a lovely touch. Overall, it was a fantastic, memorable trip that we’ll never forget.

5.00We came with our family of six and had an AMAZING time!! Thankful for Micheal and Magda for showing us some beautiful spots and getting great photos! They were so knowledgeable on the auroras and the food was great also! Delicious turnip soup, hot chocolate and coffee! Magda also played a beautiful Sami music playlist during our tour and it was wonderful! Such a great time and highly recommend! Also liked that it was only 15 people in our van! Made it fun to get to know other people!

5.00Amazing experience with Jordan and Iliyan at Wandering Owl! They took really good care of my ~80 year old mum (special cooler box seat!) and it was really fun to experience Jordan’s excitement at the aurora. We saw amazing lights post a very special once in two decades solar storm. The soup was super yummy and cookies and hot chocolate delicious! Most importantly, for someone like me with a dinky phone camera, Jordan’s photos were very very much appreciated! :)

5.00Northern Lights hunting was an amazing experience. Our tour guide, Jordan, was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. He even made a bonfire for us and provided soup and hot chocolate to keep us warm, which was much appreciated. He was very fluent in English and explained everything clearly throughout the tour. We felt well taken care of and had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend this company to everyone!

5.00Such a wonderful experience watching the northern lights with Anna. From the very beginning, she made everyone feel comfortable and excited, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere throughout the tour. Anna is an incredibly knowledgeable guide, and her storytelling added so much depth to the experience from fascinating facts about the aurora to local stories that made the night even more special. She was always attentive, making sure everyone had the best possible view and taking the time to answer questions. Her enthusiasm and passion truly showed and made the long wait completely worth it. Seeing the northern lights was absolutely magical, and sharing that moment with such a fun and engaging guide made it unforgettable.
