  Authentic & wonderful Crete experience. Cooking with Sofia fun and easy. We did not expect to be able to walk through the entire farm and feed the animals. That was a pleasant experience and one we will never forget. We enjoyed every moment of this and would highly recommend.

  Beautiful experience my family will remember forever! First of all, the property is stunning. Sofia taught my family (me, husband, daughters ages 8 & 10) to cook a traditional Cretan meal including lamb, potatoes, stuffed veggies and grape leaves, mini pies, and more. While our food cooked we visited the farm animals, baby bunnies, chickens, goats and lambs. We milked the goats and fed the baby lambs, my daughters were in heaven! After the tour we ate our meal together and it was delicious! Afterwards we chatted and my husband even played some mandolin with Sofia’s brother.   My partner and I (late 20s) loved everything about this class. We were super lucky to be the only ones in our class for the evening so w basically had a private tour. From the authentic, beautiful setting at the Veggera Farm, to the amazing hosts (brother, sister and mom) and of course to the delicious Cretan food we learned to make (while drinking their home made natural wine of course!) The farm tour was excellent, and we felt like we had stepped into a real Cretan way of life. We milked the goats, held baby animals and played with the amazing doggy Nutella. My partner and I highly recommend this tour and will be sure to return next time we are in Crete. 10/10 experience!

• Unique day on a family farm

  Visiting this 4-generation family farm was very special. Guided by Sophia we cooked several dishes using all ingredients sourced on their farm-olive oil, herbs, olives, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, zucchini, honey, cheese and rabbit.Our hosts were kind, very warm to us and another family. We were shown the farm-so many kinds of fruit trees, grandfather’s old repaired beehives, and the meal cooked on an outdoor wood stove! There was a magnificent view of the valley.Our hosts explained that “ Veggera” is sitting at a table with friends or strangers or family and sharing food and stories. Strangers when we arrived, we spent the day feeling like family members- because of our hosts’ big hearts. We fed the goats, held the baby rabbits and chicks. We would gladly return for another Veggera experience at their table and recommend this to adults and children.

  This class was truly incredible! My husband and I have taken 3 or 4 cooking classes while traveling, but this one was really special. The hosts, the food, the animals, the scenery, literally everything—was unforgettable. I couldn’t recommend it enough!

• More Than a Cooking Class - An Unforgettable Family Experience

  This experience was truly the heart of our trip to Crete!! We traveled with a HUGE group (9 adults and 7 children ages 1–7) and somehow this ended up being the experience that every single person kept talking about afterward! We were a little unsure whether a cooking class would work with that many very young kids, but it ended up being absolutely magical. If you’re traveling with children, do not hesitate to book this. It was warm, relaxed, welcoming, and so much more than just a cooking class. From the moment we arrived, it felt less like attending an activity and more like being welcomed into someone’s home and family. The hosts were unbelievably kind, genuine, and generous. We visited the day before Easter, and instead of spending the day privately with their own traditions, they included us in them. That meant so much to us and made the entire experience feel incredibly personal and authentic. The food was incredible, of course, but what stood out even more was the way they embraced all seven children with so much patience and joy. Every child felt included and important. They helped cook, explored the property, learned about the animals and trees, and were welcomed so naturally into everything. And during the downtime, there was always something for the kids to enjoy. They had toys to play with, fields to run through, Easter treats and little surprises, and the sweetest dog named Nutella, who the children absolutely adored. One of the biggest highlights for our kids was meeting all of the animals and experiencing life on the farm. They held bunnies, fed goats, saw chickens and horses, explored fruit and fig trees, and got to experience such a beautiful side of Crete in a hands-on and memorable way. What made this experience so special, though, was the family themselves. You can truly feel the love behind what they’ve created. Hearing their story, learning about their way of life, sharing a meal together, and spending time in the heart of Crete felt incredibly meaningful and special. We spent over a week in Crete and had many wonderful experiences, but this was without question the highlight for all of us — adults and children alike. We left feeling so grateful for their hospitality, warmth, food, and company. It is the kind of day our family will remember forever!!

  Veggera farm cooking class was a truly special experience for myself, husband, and our 8 year old son. We got to experience a slice of Greek village life with a lovely family who made us feel welcome as friends, not just customers. Sofia was a fabulous teacher, and almost every ingredient used was produced on the farm. The meal was incredibly delicious, the best we’ve had in Crete so far (which is really saying something since all the food has been wonderful!) We got to visit and feed all the animals, and meet most some of the extended family on a visit to Yayas house. This is a great experience for kids! My son wants to come work at the farm when he grows up. Thank you all for inviting us in and sharing a piece of your life with us.

  What a great experience! The food was great (and plentiful) and assembling the different dishes was so much fun. It was great meeting other guests from other countries and hearing about their travels. The family from the farm were welcoming, hospitable and warm it was great hearing about their farm and activities. It was raining so we didn’t get to see the farm much, but had a great time. Highly recommend. I probably wouldn’t bring kids under 12 as they could get bored.
