Sample soup dumplings with black vinegar, parched chicken, steamed buns, scallion oil noodles, and much more. You'll see how immigration brought prosperity and a vast diversity of cultures to this fast-changing city. This tour offers multiple departure times throughout the day.

This tour is currently running late night special tour session at 8:30PM. During this late night session, you will be able to see the night Shanghai, to taste of some craft beers or desert with some fresh hand-pulled beef noodles and lamb kabab.

Former French Concession

Afterward, its a 15-minute walk to Yunnan Road, where you'll sit down alongside local residents catching up with their friends at three traditional restaurants and one dessert shop. On the way, notice French lane apartments of the French Concession give way to Chinese stone houses, called shikumen, and observe daily life among the street vendors, office workers, and mahjong players.

I had an amazing food tour with Jade in Shanghai! She was friendly, knowledgeable, and took us to places I never would’ve found on my own. Every stop had incredible food, and she made the whole experience fun and easy. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city!

Lu brought us to the most authentic Chinese food spots which we would never have visited without her. Thanks to Lu we tried a variety of different Chinese dishes including variations of dumplings and skewers. Lu was very friendly and while walking to the restaurants told us about the history of the buildings and the different minorities and their food.

We had an amazing time on this Shanghai food tour! Every single dish we tried was delicious, flavorful, and truly memorable. The food was very good and tasty, and I loved how many different variations and specialties we got to sample throughout the tour. We were taken to very local places that I would never have discovered on my own. It felt authentic, genuine, and gave me a real taste of the city’s food culture. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a true local food experience in Shanghai!

This was an excellent tour and experience walking around Shanghai with Kurt. He was friendly, knowledgeable and a great guide! His food picks were excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him! Would definitely recommend this walking tour!

We had a very good experience on this walking food tour. The route was thoughtfully put together, with a variety of dishes and small local spots we probably wouldn’t have discovered on our own. The food at each stop was consistently excellent and gave us a good sense of the area’s flavours. Our guide, Jade, was friendly and easy to talk to. She explained each dish clearly and added context about the neighbourhood’s history, how it’s developed over the years, and the cultural background behind some of the food. The walk between stops ended up being just as interesting as the meals themselves. Overall, it was a well-organised tour that balanced eating, learning, and exploring really well. A great way to spend an evening in Shanghai, and something we’d happily recommend to others.
