This is a perfect experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Željka (pronounced Zelika) is a warm and wonderful host excited to share authentic, Zagreb-style Croatian recipes, food and culture with travelers.

Start your culinary adventure with a walk through Dolac market learning about local and regional produce sold by your host's favored vendors and sampling seasonal fruits or snacks. After a coffee, go to Zeljka's centrally located, classic Zagreb apartment. Sip on a welcome homemade nut or berry liqueur and have a snack before joining your host in her kitchen to prepare an authentic Zagreb-style 3-course Croatian meal from family recipes. You will prepare three dishes from scratch - a seasonal soup, meat or fish with sides, and a dessert. Based on the day of the week, the menu varies. Discover the tips and techniques involved in Croatian cooking as well as the food culture and history of the city as you share the authentic meal you helped prepare.

This is a unique opportunity to tour a local market and visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Explore with your host Dolac, the main open air Zagreb market where the locals shop for their bread, meats, produce, cheeses and sour cream. Sample regional produce sold by her favored vendors and learn about the ingredients that go into cooking Croatian food. Your market tour will last about one hour. After coffee at a café, return to your host's home with a basket of ingredients to begin your cooking class. Join Željka in her kitchen and learn to cook an authentic Zagreb-style three-course Croatian meal from recipes that have been passed down through generations of her family. Your hands-on cooking class will last about 2 hours. You will prepare three dishes from scratch - a seasonal soup, meat or fish with sides, and a dessert. Based on the day of the week, the menu varies. Discover the techniques involved in Croatian cooking as well as the food culture and history of the city as you share the meal you helped prepare. Don’t forget to ask why Croatians use so many pumpkin seeds in their food! Your meal includes an aperitif, wine or beer and tea or coffee.

Cooking with Zeljka Stosic in her home was an absolute joy. Our meeting at Dolce market was like meeting an old friend. We selected Fresno fruit, vegetables and meat for our menu. Zeljka's personality is warm and welcoming as was her husband.

We unfortunately had a rainy day while in Zagreb but it was made memorable with a great cooking class with Zeljka. She was very accommodating to my husband's dietary needs. We spent a lovely day at her home and cooking location outside of Zagreb after first picking up our groceries. She has beautiful outdoor patio and a nice kitchen to prepare traditional Croation dishes. The food was great as well as the fun conversations with Zeljka and her husband. All in all a very good day.

Zeljka was very friendly and has explained a lot to us since I'm not a very good chef. The food she bought with us tasted in the end very well. Overall it was an experience that we would to again.

Amazing day with Zeljka. Loved the market tour and shopping for ingredients. Learned how to prepare several delicious Croatian courses. Beautiful terrace and garden. Everyone should do this when visiting Zagreb!
Fabulous way to taste traditional Croatian food.

Great time shopping for food in the market and the n we went out of the city into the host’s home in a village around 30 minutes from the centre of Zagreb. We made three wonderful dishes- esp favourite was the cottage cheese strudel for dessert. We had some great coffee, schnapps and wine. Truly lovely day.
This is a great way to break from the norm!

Our guide was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed our visit to the market and discussions about each aspect of selections. The class was informative and the food was delicious. We became part of Croatia instead of just tourists.

If you are looking for memorable, fun, cooking experience while in Zagreb, then look no further. Where else can you can meet a fantastic mother and son team, go shopping in Dulac Market, go to their home and learn how to make delicious Croatian dishes? If you like to cook, learn about other cultures and foods, have great conversation, eat delicious foods, and leave with memories of a lifetime, then you need to book this experience.
