Reindeer is probably the most iconic animal of Lapland, it has played a significant part in local traditional lifestyle. Meeting those lovely semi-wild animals is always a unique experience for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!

This tour is then your best option if you want to live a proper and authentic reindeer farm experience. It is operated in cooperation with a real authentic farm. The family of herders that you will meet have been herding reindeer for nearly 200 years, and they will gladly share with you their passion and lifestyle.

After being picked up from your hotel, you will head to an authentic reindeer farm outside Rovaniemi. You will meet the herders and their animals, learn about their lifestyles and about reindeer husbandry. Because this is the first visit of the day, you will also get the chance observe the reindeers beeing fed with their favourite food. You will practice your driving skills with a self-driven short sleigh ride of 400 m (around 2-3 min). Reindeer sleigh rides were traditionally a way of transportation for loads and passengers in Lapland. Nowadays, certain skillful herders continue training the best elements of their herds to perpetuate this tradition. Please note that this tour focuses on the animals and the lifestyle of the herders, it does not include a longer safari.

The experience with the reindeer has been a lot of fun, the child (he is 4) has had a great time feeding him. Besides the farm boy was very friendly and the time of questions and talks afterwards has become very enjoyable.

All the things present in the activity are amazing: the speakers are very friendly, the walk and feeding of the reindeer are really cool, the small tasting at the end is very nice the food is excellent, as are the explanations and translation of leo our guide, I highly recommend!

I booked the Reindeer & Husky Tour in Summer/Autumn for me and my husband and WOW we had an incredible time! We weren't sure what to expect with reindeer since they don't like to be petted, but we got to feed them! So cool. The husky cart ride (not a sled because snow had only just started to fall for the season) was so much fun - my husband loved driving the cart. My favorite part was the time we were given to pet and cuddle the dogs after the ride. Our guides all day were helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!

We did two tours with Nordic Odyssey today: The reindeer farm and Rauna Zoo with Pierre and the legends of Finland tour with Kemi. They were both amazing! So knowledgeable, so friendly, and really cared about the experience they were giving you as their guest. There were so many tour options to choose from and I am so glad that we picked Nordic Odyssey to learn more about the area of Rovaniemi and to have the guides share their knowledge and love for this beautiful piece of Finland. From the transportation to the experience itself we couldn’t have asked for a better company. If you want a tour that has friendly, knowledgeable guides I definitely recommend Nordic Odyssey!!!

An incredible experience! Thanks to our guide Justine. She gave us explanations about the reindeer as soon as we transferred to the farm. Listening, caring and available to answer all our questions, she made this activity very enriching! Many thanks again I recommend.

Very interesting visit which allows you to learn about the life of this reindeer farm. The explanations are in English, but Léo (our great guide) translated everything for us and was available to answer our questions. We enjoyed the little reindeer sleigh ride, and having the opportunity to feed them!! Even if, when we arrived at the farm, we were mixed with other groups, it was still a decent number. Thank you to the members of Nordic Odyssey for being responsive by email to my various questions.

Our visit started with meeting the males trained in sled pulling, feeding the females and the opportunity to take a short sleigh ride with the added bonus of obtaining our driving license. We then learned a lot of information about reindeer and the culture around this fascinating animal all around a wood fire while enjoying a hot berry juice with cinnamon cookies. Our guide, Aurore, was really great and the person we met at the farm, Adrien, was also great. We highly recommend Nordic Odyssey and are sad we were unable to do a Northern Lights expedition with them due to inclement weather. We will come back ;) and without hesitation we will use their service.
