Join our family in our home for an authentic Uzbek cooking experience and learn how to prepare Plov – Uzbekistan’s most famous and beloved dish. Under the guidance of our father, who has been cooking plov for decades, you’ll discover the secrets of this fragrant rice dish made with lamb, carrots, onions, and spices. You’ll start by preparing fresh local ingredients, then watch and take part as plov is cooked slowly in a traditional kazan (large cast-iron cauldron). Along the way, we’ll share stories about the history and cultural importance of plov in Uzbek life – from weddings to family gatherings. After the cooking is complete, we’ll all sit together at the table to enjoy the delicious meal you helped create, accompanied by salads, tea, and friendly conversation. It’s more than a cooking class – it’s a warm cultural exchange and a chance to experience real Uzbek hospitality.

We had an amazing time with this family. They are kind, hospitable, and gifted at explaining their cultural traditions in a way that outsiders can understand and appreciate. Not only did we have delicious plov, but they also treated us to a beautiful spread of nuts, fruits, bread, tea, and other snacks. Their courtyard is beautiful and comfortable, and everyone went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed. While you're in Uzbekistan, sitting down in an Uzbek home and sharing a meal with an Uzbek family is an absolute must. We strongly recommend this experience!
