Exhausting ( 4.5h bus only) but fantastic and educational day trip to Ayers Rock. Don't forget a flynet!

Despite the long bus ride, with reasonable stops, this was a very impressive experience. The barbecue at sunset at Uluru was unique. Great guide and great driver.

My husband and I had a wonderful day at Uluru with our tireless driver, Andy and knowledgeable tour guide, Yad. My husband celebrated his 80th birthday with a sunset barbecue at Uluru, a truly memorable experience, made even more memorable by the staff of Emu, who went out of their way to help me surprise him. Special thanks to Krisna and her manager at Emu., who were truly extraordinary. Our driver, Andy drove over four hours from Alice Springs to Uluru and then another more than four hours back at night. Yad, our tour guide, provided interesting and beautifully balanced commentary on the cultural significance for the Pitjantjatjara people, as well as the geological explanation for the existence of Uluru. Oh, and the barbecue with bubbly provided just the right finish for the day. P.S. A netting helmet is a must, as the flies (of the non-biting kind) constantly buzzed around our heads as we toured the beautiful Uluru Rock. But this was a small price to pay for visiting this iconic site.

The 10 hour round trip bus ride made for a very long day. The experience of being at Uluru and learning about the Aboriginal people and their culture was enlightening.

This was an amazing day tour to Uluru. We had a short stop at Erldunda to stretch the legs and get a coffee as well as see some Emus they have in an enclosure there. We then stopped for lunch at the Ayers Rock Town Centre and a change of driver / tour guide (Yad) who then took us to Uluru itself, we had several short walks and Yad was very informative with giving us insights and history of the markings and paintings that the aboriginals have left there over the ages. Truly inspiring sights all round. We then headed to the cultural centre for a look around and getting some more experiences of the local traditions. After this we then headed to the sunset park for a bbq dinner. The food was excellent and the colours of Uluru were something to marvel at, truly inspiring and amazing all round. Once it got darker we boarded our coach and headed back to Alice Springs, somewhat slowly as we tried to avoid cattle and kangaroos at night. I loved every moment and would recommend to anyone who has only a few days in Alice Springs on their visit.

It's all worth the experience. But if anyone has problems with bus rides I would advise against this trip. Even if the driver took us safely from Alice Springs to Uluru, 5 - 6 hours (just) on “it-goes-that-way” is really exhausting.

Pickup was straighforward, the 5hr journey to Uluru included two toilet stops. There were a few cafes and shops in Yulara for the 1hr lunch and souvenirs stop. The walks and stories told around the base of Uluru were interesting, and there was a fair selection to eat and drink for the sunset BBQ dinner. It is a long way to travel from Alice Springs, but I felt the 6hrs spent around Uluru were worth it in my opinion.
