Experience this amazing 3.5 hours tour where you will learn the life cycle of the sea turtles, the characteristics of the different turtles that visit this part of Mexico, the encubation time, survival rate and all the dificulties that this small creatures have to go throught from the moment they are born and run to the ocean and until the time they come back to the beach many years later to lay eggs.

To make it easy to undertand we will use a chart to explaing the differences of the 4 different kinds of turtles that visit Mexico.

This service includes Round-trip transport from the lobby of your hotel in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo to the turtle farm, informative tour guide and the opportunity to see how the baby sea turtles walk to the ocean and swim across the big waves.

After the turtle farm you will have the oportunity to taste a fresh locally made coconut macaroon.

We will travel through town to get to the rural community of Juluchuca which famous for the production of coconut macarons and has the longest and most secluded beach which makes it the best place for the mama turtles to come and lay the eggs away from the noise of the tourist towns.

In Juluchuca beach we will explain you the life cycle of the sea turtles and tell you the characteristics of the 3 different kinds of see turtles that come and lay the eggs in this part of Mexico, we will also mention the different predators that kill them before they make it to the ocean and also once they are in the ocean. After a 20 minutes explanation we will select a nest that was found the day before, we carefully will remove a little bit of the sand and show you one of the eggs, then we will cover the nest. After that we will select the nest that is hatching and you will witness how the turtles come up to the surface. All of the turtles will be put in a small container. The turtles will remain for about 10 to 20 minutes in the container, untiel they are active and ready to go. After we will take them to the wet sand about 25 feet away from the ocean and as soon as they are put in the wet sand they will run to the ocean. We will wait until they all make it to the ocean.

This was one of the most beautiful and emotional experiences of my life. Francisco is an amazing guide — so knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about protecting these little babies. You can feel how much he loves what he does. We learned so much about the turtles, their journey, and how important this moment is for their survival. Watching the tiny babies make their way to the ocean…I almost cried. It was magical, peaceful, and unforgettable. If you’re in the area, this tour is a MUST. Thank you, Francisco, for making this experience so special for us. We will remember it forever. 🐢💛🌊

I will tell you we had a most phenomenal experience releasing the baby turtles with Luis! He picked us up at our resort on time and we had a nice drive to a secluded beach where the Turtle sanctuary is located. We had a very safe and fun ride on the back of ATV up through a palm tree coconut forest, to the beautiful beach. We were the only people there for miles on either side. We got a very thorough and friendly education about all the different turtles In Mexico and what they do to save them from predators every night. Then we each got a basket of our 1 hour old baby Turtles and released them to the ocean. It was very emotional and all of us cried tears of joy. I could feel their drive to get to the waters and be free and safe. Luis was a fun, funny and gentle and knowledgeable tour guide. He also took us shopping and helped translate. If you want a good time and feel safe- book a trip with Luis! We will be back and for sure doing more with him.

One of the most rewarding Xperia cds in my e tire life! I’ve always wanted to do this and was so excited but I never dreamed it would be this rewarding. The crew and our guide Luis were very careful to educate us about the local turtle populations, how many times a year each of the different species returned to the spot to lay eggs, how many eggs each time etc. These people truly care about the turtles and the environment. Loved every minute.

From the moment Francisco (Paco) picked us up at our hotel, we knew we were in for something special. He greeted us with a warm smile and immediately began sharing stories about the history of Mexico and the charming towns along our route. His knowledge, humor, and genuine passion for the area made the drive feel like part of the adventure. When we arrived at the destination town, we hopped on ATVs for an exhilarating ride through lush vegetation and towering coconut trees - it was such a fun way to reach the beach! This was an amazing experience. Luis was so knowledgeable of everything. He picked us up from our hotel on time & drove us out in a comfortable air conditioned vehicle telling us about all the points of interest along the way. Once we arrived at the location., we climbed on some ATV’s and drove to the beach through a jungle like setting. When we got to the beach, there was another guide who along with Luis showed us the whole process of a turtle coming to shore laying the eggs and then they rescue the eggs and replant them in another area so that they are protected from predators. We then were given some baskets for us to retrieve the baby turtles & released them on the beach. Watching these little creatures make their way to the ocean was just amazing. We will never forget this. After this he introduced us to a coconut candy place where they make & sell their product. It was so delicious. So authentic & bought some to take home. It was a fun filled, once in a lifetime experience can’t wait for the next tour with Luis.
