Balandra beach is accesible for everyone, but it is much more than the main beach that most visitors get to know. On this adventure, we'll take you into the depths and heights of Balandra, where you'll be able to learn about the local history, and the animals of the region. Our guides are all bilingual and marine biologists, with years of experience guiding tours.

We'll do the kayaking and snorkeling in Balandra, and then hike from Balandra into Tecolote. We'll stop at beautiful beaches and snorkel in a rocky reef. The snorkeling and kayaking part of the day takes around 2 hours.The hike is 5 km on rocky and sandy terrain, with some sections where our shoes will get wet if the tide is high. On average it takes 2.5 hours. We'll walk through a desert patch, rocky hills, cliffs by the ocean, sandy beaches and intertidal zones. Get ready for spectacular views! We'll finish the hike in Tecolote beach and we'll have lunch, and rest until 3 pm. We use tandems sit on top kayaks, and we bring life jackets with us. The kayaks are recommended to up to 90 kilos per person. We'll close the day with a delicious lunch at the beach of local and fresh ceviche. Ask for our vegan options! The day requires an intermediate fitness level, and we recommend booking on non-windy days. Please know you will need a car or to hire a taxi to complete this adventure! Let us know if you'd like us to help coordinate pick up with a trusted taxi. Transportation from downtown La Paz costs 1200 pesos per car.

Epic day exploring Balandra Bay!

5.00We knew we had to visit Balandra Bay but wanted something more than just relaxing at the beach. This adventure with Mexico Travel Adventures was perfect! We loved the mix of kayaking the bay and the peaceful mangroves, followed by snorkeling and a great hike with breathtaking views. Our guides Danny and Estaban were amazing - they were both very knowledgable of the flora/fauna and the area in general. They were both so easy to talk to - they were professional, kind and truly seemed to enjoy their job. My wife and I had a phenomenal day and would 10/10 recommend this tour group!

5.00This was such a nice and relaxing tour. Esteban and Dani were absolutely fantastic and very friendly. The views were spectacular, and the wildlife was amazing. I highly recommend this tour, especially with these two awesome guys! :)

5.00WOW we couldn't say enough good things about this tour. In today's distracted world it's priceless to escape to the beauty and seclusion of nature. For much of the time we were the only 3 people around, kayaking through mangroves and the stunning balandra beach to the sounds of birds calling, wind blowing and fish jumping. We were blown away by how quiet, peaceful and meditative this experience was. I am pregnant so they were kind enough to modify the experience for me. They cut out the 2 hour hike and moved up a shorter 30 mins hike to before we set off for kayaking in order to minimize my exertion and time in the sun as it's quite a physical day. The guides Dani and John were just purely wonderful, knowledgable and sweet. They have every bit of the experience down to a fine-tuned process, which makes you feel like you can truly relax. We literally did not have to lift a finger from the kayaks going into the water to them setting up a lovely picnic lunch on the beach after - we pretty much felt like queens! It was really cool that both guides had a history of formally studying nature and birds in university. We basically had 1,000 questions about all kinds of things in the environment which they answered with credibility.

5.00Book Now!!!! Book Now!!! As a Mexican i was extremely skeptical, thinking why am i paying for a tour? But this was a great decision. Fernando & Estevan are incredibly knowledgeable. The views and all our pictures are amazing. Also their Long Sleeve water shirts came in clutch! Pictures Do Not do the views, and atmosphere justice. Worth every penny. Yes it requires some Fitness, but worth it all, especially the hike to the top is worth the climb. The views you will see are unforgettable. Book Now!!

5.00We are in La Paz celebrating a joint bestie birthday and we couldn’t have picked a better group to kick off the journey with, such an incredible day! They helped arrange an early morning pickup for us to get to Balandra Beach & expectations were exceeded from the beginning! From the morning hike with the stunning views, to being the only people in a kayak in the middle of lush mangroves, before snorkeling over healthy coral surrounded with life, and ending with hanging out on the beach eating homemade lunch (vegan options included!) - Danny & John were kind, hilarious, and very knowledgeable - we learned much about the birds, the marine life, and the infamous mushroom rock :-) A memorable experience all around. The entire process with MTA was seamless and magical . 10/10 would recommend!

5.00My sister and I booked the Balandra & Tecolote Beach: hike, kayak and snorkel in paradise with Mexico Travel Adventure this past week. Both guides [John and Clara] were wonderful. We learned that Balandra is a National Park and we learned the origin of its name as well. The beach is beautiful with 3 different shades of aqua and blue. The highlight for us was the kayaking through the Mangroves: exquisite calm with blue herrings, turkey vultures and crabs. I also enjoyed the hike to Tecolote Beach.
An unforgettable day. Kayaking, snorkeling, and trekking were great 😁

5.00It was an incredible experience, very tiring (I hadn't done that much exercise in a long time) but it was memorable. Clara and Jon were very attentive; without a doubt, this is a must-do activity to get to know Balandra and its surroundings very well. If you do this activity, do not forget to bring good hiking shoes and your water bottle.

5.00Balandra itself is stunning, and our guides, John and Danny were friendly, spoke fantastic English and were super knowledgeable about the area - the marine life, the birds, the geology, all of it. They navigated a complicated situation with other guests with grace. Kayaks and equipment were in good shape. The snorkeling was beautiful with tons of fish, and shallow enough that it was easy, with great visibility. The view from the hike portion was spectacular. Would definitely recommend it. I only went yesterday and I’m already sad I’m not there today. My only regret is not packing a waterproof phone case so I couldn’t taken more pictures!

5.00Some of the most knowledgable tour guides I've ever had. They both had their masters degrees in Science and a love for nature. They were ready to answer all of my questions about the area. John was even able to set me up with another tour and ride for another day. This tour did a great job going through all of the joys of Balandra from kayaking through the Mangroves, snorkeling the coral reef and hiking the beautiful mountains. It was worth the money.
