  Spent 7 days in Batam Vy the Central Ferry port. We had an amazing airbnb within yards of the port but there are plenty of taxis right outside if you need one. There is a large shopping mall opposite and another one about 15 minute walk away. Both have places to eat as well as shops. The biggest Mall is Nagoya Hill, taxi cost 50,000 rupiah. Here you will find lots of massage parlours too. I can recommend the one in the mall, and it was half of the price of the one by the ferry. Everyone tends to eat in the Malls. There are other eateries, we went to Harbour Bay a couple of times to eat at Bay City Seafood, very nice too and they sell beer! You will struggle to find places for alcohol, it's not a dry country but certainly gears you away from drinking. A great place for 2 or 3 days, a week is too much unless you are happy to flop by a pool. Everyone tries to speak English but it's limited and my Indonesian was non-existent. Very friendly, very polite and very cheap - except alcohol!

  Nice place to visit....barelang bridge, ocarina wisata. Masjid jabal arafah, nagoya hill mall is a must to visit
