Monument Ali and Nino

The Ali and Nino statue is one of Batumi’s most iconic landmarks—a mesmerizing kinetic sculpture symbolizing eternal love. Created by Georgian artist Tamar Kvesitadze, the two towering figures—representing Ali, a Muslim boy, and Nino, a Christian girl—slowly move toward each other, merge into one, and then part again in a continuous loop. Inspired by the famous novel “Ali and Nino”, the statue reflects the romance and tragedy of lovers divided by culture, religion, and war. Our guide Sulkhani was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of knowledge about Batumi’s history and culture. He made the walking tour fun and informative, sharing interesting stories and facts at every stop. What made the experience even better were his local restaurant recommendations — we tried a couple and loved them!
