Udawalawe Dam

Traveling 4 kilometers on the Udawalawe Dam gives you the impression that you are going to vanish into thin air if you are coming from the Tanamalwila-Udawalawe route. One of the most breathtaking views of Sri Lanka may be observed in the evening on the Uadawalawe Dam. The vast Udawalawe Reservoir is to your right, the foggy Kaltota mountain range is ahead, and the reservoir spill is to your left.

Udawalawe National Park

Home to some of the most magnificent creatures on the planet, Udawalawe National Park. There will be plenty of elephants to see. Elephants are the main draw of Udawalawe, roaming freely in vast herds that make this park an ideal spot to get up close and personal with these gentle giants. Udawalawe National Park offers you the chance to see a variety of mammals in addition to large herds of elephants, including deers, sloth bears, leopards, monkeys, water buffaloes, crocodiles, and jackals. It really does feel like you're on the set of a National Geographic documentary, minus the voice commentary (sadly!). The park's roaming leopards are very difficult to notice, so if you're fortunate enough to see one, be sure to have your camera ready. Bring your binoculars if you're hoping to observe some of Sri Lanka's most exotic birds; bird lovers will be pleased to learn that Udawalawe National Park is home to over 150 species of birds.

The trip was absolutely fantastic. Our guide showed us some really exciting paths that deviated from the main routes. We saw elephants, monkeys, crocodiles, deer, buffalo, foxes and many species of birds. Our guide was super friendly, had an animal book with him so we could identify species, and lent us binoculars. His driving made us feel very safe on the bumpy roads. I can absolutely recommend it!!!

Best Safari in Udawawale! We booked a allday safari and were able to see multiple animals. He is very polite and explained a lot!

AMAZING SAFARI! 🐘 We did a private evening safari with Hansaka, and saw more elephants than I can count. He was incredibly knowledgable about all the animals and birds, and provided binoculars for even closer views. He even helped us spot a crocodile. We also stayed with him and his family - lovely clean room, and great breakfast which was all local grown food and served to perfection. Thank you for the amazing memories 🤩

We had our first safari today, which we easily booked yesterday via whatsapp. The safari was wonderful, we saw a lot of elephants. Our driver was really nice and gave us important informations about the animals. All in all we would definitely rebook Batu‘s safari again!! Thanks a lot :)
