While there are many hutongs to visit in Beijing, most tourists only go to a handful of them which can be overrun with other tourists. On this off the beaten path food walking tour you will visit Dong Si Area with a local guide who has intimate knowledge of the surrounding area. Here you will get to experience what it truly feels like to be a local on a more personal level without the crowds.The itinerary and food items included can be tailored to suit the dietary requirements of the guests.

Included will be 20+ different food tastings at various diverse locations, such as markets, shops, bakeries and restaurants. You will visit local haunts, get a chance to meet the owners and explore historical sites that few tourists have an opportunity to experience. No chain restaurants here – we will visit mom and pop specialty food shops to try authentic items such as delicious duck necks and sesame cake. The commentary from your expert foodie guide includes an overview of Chinese culinary habits, a description of different regions cuisine and an introduction to selected specialties in the shops.You are encouraged to interact with your guide and ask as many questions as you like.For adventure foodies we do have food surprise for you,just tell our guide "You are real foodies" By staying off the beaten path you will also have a unique chance to support a local community while being entertained by the sights and smells of true Beijing. 5.00I was skeptical that this tour would be as amazing as it was because all the reviews were so good. However, Jay was so amazing. He was very attentive to my grandmas diabetic diet restrictions and gave us tidbits of information beyond food as we were walking (which was an unexpected added bonus). I highly recommend coming with an empty stomach to this and prepared to have an amazing evening. I 100% recommend this.

5.00Our guide Miko was great, tailoring the tour to our needs. A good first-day activity in Beijing, he made sure our DiDi app worked, slowed the pace to match our walking speed, and shared history of the dishes and the Houtong area.

5.00We had a great evening with Andy. Fabulous variety of foods and tasting experiences. Andy blended these tastings with a great insight into the history of Beijing and its culture and food. 5.00This tour was amazing! We walked the streets of a vibrant Hutong and tried local foods specific to Beijing. To try these local foods in non tourist areas was such a treat. Our guide Allen was so helpful and funny, and treated us to so many different dishes. Would highly recommend this tour if you want local food experiences.

5.00Just got back from this tour. Our tour guide was Andy. The tour exceeded my expectations, it was veery very interesting. Andy made the tour very pleasant, comfortable and fun. He was very funny, respectful, and shared information behind the history of each dish/foods that we tried. He also gave us tips on how to eat and enjoy food like a local lol. The food was delicious and knowing the story behind them as well as the story behind Hutong area was great to really immersive in the experience. Andy also took time to get to know our prefferences and accomodated and choosed the options based on our needs and prefferences wich made this experience a whole lot better. Thank you Andy! Also our driver Summer. Wao! He did not speak English but that did not stop him from going above and beyond for us. He was soo sweet and super funny. He used a translator to talk to us along the way, which really made us feel comfortable and made the trip super fun. We laughed a lot. I hope my translator translated what I wanted accurately (I wont know cause I dnt understand their languague) but he laughed so im guessing for the most part the translator was accurate jaja. At the end I noticed it translated something wrong xD. A huge thanks to both and keep at it. Your doing a great job. From Stephanie, Edwin & Puri

5.00We just finished our tour with Andy! The tour was very very pleasant. Our tour guide was Andy, Andy made sure to share insights behind the different dishes and food that we tried as well as the history behind Hutong. It was very interesting, we laughed alot, talk a lot about history and enjoyed delicious food. Andy made sure to know our prefferences so that he could accomodate and chose the best food options to try. Loved it. I highly recommend.

5.00The tour with Mike was great. We originally booked a vegetarian option but the agency forgot to tell him. So he had to improvise on the spot and did an amazing job. The food tasted great and was delicious.
