A MUST DO TOUR IN ALASKA! One of the highest rated tours offered along Alaska's beautiful inside passage. Find out what life is like as a commercial fisherman from men who have worked in the rugged Bering Sea. These guys are the real deal! On board the Aleutian Ballad, a boat that was featured on the Discovery Channel’s popular TV show Deadliest Catch, you’ll cruise through the calm, protected waterways of the Inside Passage with an expert crew, watching as marine creatures of all kinds are caught and hauled up on deck. Catch is then held in a live tank for observation before being released back into the wild. You’ll see king crab, box crab, octopus, rockfish, prawns and more, plus you may catch sight of other local wildlife like sea lions and porpoise. This tour has also become world renowned for a spectacular encounter with eagles in the wild.

This was the best experience I would highly recommend this excursion. When telling us their stories it just brought everything thing to real life. They risk their lives every time they are out .

One of a kind excursion! Local family owned and they go above and beyond to give the best experience! On a ship that was on the Deadliest Catch! I’ve never seen so many eagles in one spot. Also so many sea creatures!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FIVE STAR Without question, this was the BEST excursion we have ever taken anywhere. The Aleutian Ballad was already high on the hubby's bucket list because of Deadliest Catch, but what made this experience truly unforgettable was Captain David and his incredible crew. From the moment we arrived, every single person onboard made us feel genuinely welcome. You could immediately tell this was not just another tourist excursion to them — they truly cared that everyone had an amazing experience. One of my favorite moments happened before we even left the dock. A very friendly gentleman motioned us to sit down near him in the arena seating area chatting away like another tourist. He proudly told me he had found “the best seats on the boat” because the heaters were overhead. We talked for quite awhile before he smiled and said he probably better get to work because he was actually the captain of the ship! That was Captain David — kind, funny, humble, and genuinely interested in talking with everyone onboard. The stories shared by Captain David and the crew were fascinating. Hearing firsthand accounts from fishermen who had actually worked the dangerous waters of the Bering Sea gave us such a greater appreciation for what these men endure. They were entertaining, knowledgeable, and patient while answering questions and making sure everyone could see and participate. And Madison deserves a huge thank you as well. We booked through Viator and I became concerned the night before about whether we would make it back to our ship in Ward Cove before boarding time. At 10:30 that evening, Madison was still answering messages and reassuring me. She personally made sure transportation was arranged back to the ship, and we returned with plenty of time to spare. That level of customer service is rare these days and so appreciated. The excursion itself was incredible — pulling up prawns, octopus, rock fish, crab, and other sea life from the deep waters while learning about each species. Sampling the fresh catch dipped in hot butter was absolutely delicious. Feeding the bald eagles and watching them soar right overhead was breathtaking. Every moment felt special. But what truly set this apart was the people. Captain David and his entire crew went above and beyond in every possible way to make guests comfortable, entertained, informed, and welcomed. Their passion for Alaska, the sea, and sharing this experience shines through in everything they do. If you are visiting Ketchikan or sailing into Ward Cove, do not miss this excursion. It was worth every penny and created memories we will talk about for years to come.

Our ship docked in Ketchikan and we met Dave. Absolutely the best tour we have ever been on. If you have only one city you can visit in Alaska or one tour you can do, this is a must. It has everything from supporting youth basketball, to respecting native elders, tributes to those who have passed, hopes, dreams, adventure, actual crab pots being set and pulled, education on all species, ship stories. More eagles than I have ever seen in my life, wildlife sightings of every type. Best adventure and breathtaking views. If you miss this, you missed the best of Alaska.

I’ve been on many excursions and tours and this one is at the top of the list. You can tell Captain Dave, Bid D, David and the rest of the team really love what they do. They dropped different kinds of crab pots and traps to demonstrate how fishing is done. We saw countless Eagles and other beautiful creatures that all make Alaska what it is. I’d definitely book a tour on the “miracle boat”. You will have to book to find out how it got this nick name.

This was excellent. The gentlemen and lady who work on the boat were so knowledgeable, friendly, we felt totally safe too. They were so knowledgeable and the enthusiasm for their trade poured out of them on to us. It was interesting to learn all about the King Crabs and see them in their habitat in a tank on the boat, along with octopus and more sea creatures, and we saw an example haul. What also made my day..being a bird watcher, was the feeding of a sea eagle who swooped over the boat to catch the fish being thrown 😀. Amazing. Wear warm coats and layers, hats, gloves etc if you go in October as I did, though they also provide you huge each a huge warm coat made especially for this. I was so lucky with the weather..blue skies no clouds😲👍..
