5.00This tour was the most interesting & informative part of my visit to Seoul. Having Hana as our amazing guide made it even more special. As a guide, she was very clear about what we’d be doing, where all the meeting points were, and the timing of everything. She was also happy to take any questions throughout the day. But it was her personal stories that really brought the history of Korea to life. She helped us understand the families that were separated by the conflict, and the desire for reunification to bring those families back together some day. You can feel how much she loves her country and how much she enjoys sharing it with others. The morning started off with a nice short hike up to the Gamaksan suspension bridge. Then we ventured over to the Imjingak peace park where we saw the Freedom Bridge and the ribbons left there by families with relatives in the north. Then we ventured further into the DMZ area. The Third Infiltration Tunnel was a workout, and ducking to go through that long tunnel was a unique experience (and I’m thankful for the hard hats, I bumped my head at least 7 times). Dora Observatory was fascinating… It was a relatively clear day, so we had perfect views over the border and Hana directed us to all the interesting places to see on both the North & South Korea sides. No photos allowed here, but they’re certainly etched in my memory. The JSA Museum was the most underwhelming part of the tour. It’s been added to the tour since public tours to the actual JSA aren’t allowed right now, but it doesn’t add much to the experience. It was still a good stop for snacks and shopping for locally-produced goods. Overall this was a great opportunity to see areas just outside of Seoul, and I’d recommend it to anyone, especially if you get Hana as your guide.

5.00Hanna was an excellent tour guide. She's both knowledgeable about the history of the DMZ as well as personable. Each stop is pretty quick so be prepared take a brisk walk at each site. This is also an active tour with stairs and intermittent walking (on average 6 miles total).

5.00Our tour guide was Hana and the driver was Jacob. Hana was amazing! Very knowledgeable about the history of both Koreas. For the day: eat a good meal prior to starting the tour. The snack breaks are brief. Bring a water bottle and fill it up at each stop. Wear good walking/hiking shoes!
