Snorkeling around in one of the most unique ecosystems in the planet. A heck of a start - the tour begins in the world's largest underground river. Immersed in the veins of the Earth you’ll discover stalactites, stalagmites and all sorts of alien-looking rocky formations, all submerged in crystal-clear fresh water.
Cenote Nicte-ha
Second stop, an open Cenote. Get ready to base jump into it! These cenotes are natural pools of fresh water, not super deep, but a blast to swim around. When you plunge into the water you will notice your vision enhances to 4k, the visual resolution effect improves dramatically and the bottom of the cenote goes from light blue to pitch dark; a visual trip you must experience first hand!

5.00We took 2 day tours with Primitive Expedition that included seeing the Mayan ruins, swimming in cenotes and lunch . We were so lucky to have Oscar as our guide he is absolutely the best. Knowledgeable, friendly, courteous with excellent command of the English language. He went out of his way to take memorable photos and video of our adventure while we just soaked it all in and enjoyed ourselves. Your are in professional hands with Oscar and tour group. Thank you so much!

5.00Danny was our tour guide and he took us (party of 2) to Akumal to swim with sea turtles, two cenotes, and a local restaurant for tacos. Danny was very knowledgeable about all the areas and wildlife we saw and was able to give us a private experience (while some places we went to had other tourists Danny was good at guiding us to areas where there were less people). We also had Danny for the previous day where he took us to the Two Eyes national park and we visited 3 cenotes. Danny was a delight to talk to and you could tell he enjoyed what he did. (Photos included were taken on Dazz Cam - iphone app)

5.00We went on the cenote expedition with Ivan. Picked us up on time from our resort and took us right to the cenotes! He brought a go pro to get pics and videos for us while we explored the beautiful underground rivers of tulum! Truly a breathtaking experience. Treated us to the best lunch we had on our trip afterwards too! Ivan and his wife run an amazing business and I highly recommend checking them out if you’re in playa del Carmen/tulum area! Our only regret is not doing more expeditions with him during our stay. 10/10

5.00We had an incredible experience with Primitive Xpeditions, and the highlight was our tour guide, Danny. He was absolutely outstanding....always on time, extremely knowledgeable, and so friendly that he made the entire adventure enjoyable from start to finish. Danny went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, engaged, and having fun. His deep knowledge of the area and history really brought the excursions to life, and his passion for what he does is contagious. I can’t recommend Danny enough – if you’re booking with Primitive Xpeditions, make sure you request him. He truly made the trip unforgettable!

5.00We did the private Cenote tour with Danny. It and he was incredible. The first Cenote is an experience . Danny had so much knowledge to share about local geography, science and Mayan culture. Also he was dad joke hilarious (in the best way). The second Cenote was fun and public...and oh so..refreshing. Danny made our tour and would 100% recommend.

5.00Wow! What an amazing day, we were so thrilled with our experience. Danny was our guide and he was the absolute best, knowledgeable, funny and very laid back so we could enjoy the expedition on our time. The Lagoon was gorgeous and the cenotes were incredible - especially the cave.The lunch stop was amazing as well - true mexican cuisine. Would highly highly recommend this as apart of your vacation.

5.00I’m scared of most things - heights, water, small spaces. And yet…with Danny our guide’s care and support I overcame them all! He picked 3 different, less popular, cenotes for us. The first was part of a lagoon which was full of- and I mean full - of fish. A snorkelers heaven. The second was a crystal clear open cenote in the jungle - a platform to jump off (and fortunately some rustic steps for an old wuss like me). This was a cave - crystal clear water with stunning stalactites and stalagmites. Danny gave us torches which were essential. A scary but stunning experience which I’d never have done without full confidence in our guide. An incredible day - not for the faint hearted

5.00Danny provided a wonderful experience that was both incredible informative about the local area and undoubtedly fun! He was on hand at every step but I was able to do some solo snorkelling and we even did some cave snorkelling. My wife bought the experience and it was worth every penny. If I was in Tulum again I would most certainly go again!
