This is the best selling option so you can get a full taste of the city of Athens, guided by an expert, fluent in English Athenian driver. He CANNOT enter the sites with you. Eat the best fresh local Greek food after discussing your choices with your driver. Acropolis
First stop the Acropolis hill. A bucket list visit for milions around the globe. Witness from up and close the most perfectly designed building in history and the most copied one. The Parthenon, or in Greek Parthenonas meaning the temple of the virgin goddess Athena, the daughter of Zeus the god of the Gods. This is the cradle of the Western civilization, where the foundation were put and where democracy was born. Learn the fascinating history behind the Acropolis and the ancient myths related to it. Admire also the temple of Athena Nike, the Propylea, and last but not least the Erechtheon with its beatiful 6 maidens statues. On the slopes of the Acropolis there is probably the oldest theater in the world from 600 BCE and also a Roman odeon used to this day.
Ancient Agora of Athens
Next stop the ancient Agora of Athens. The center of political, financial and social life. A site brought to light by the American school of classical studies. A beatiful site where you can admire probably the most well preserved ancient Greek temple dedicated to Efestos, the blacksmith god that makes all the weapons of the gods, the son of Zeus and Hera. On site there is also a beautiful reconstruction of an ancient 2 storey shopping mall. Today the ground floor houses the museum with the findings of the agora excavation which is still going on. Beautiful pottery, ancient coins, ballots, water clocks and a lot more. Yes, there was a shopping mall with 42 shops 2500 years ago. Apart from that the site has many ruins of goverment buildings, temples, court houses, parliament, theater, statues. Socrates the famous philosopher stepped on this ground. Mostly flat and covered in trees. A must visit site after the Acropolis.

5.00We had absolutely a fantastic experience with this private tour. Our main objective was to see and know the historical facts, monuments, myths, local customs and culture in Greece. Athens was the very first day of our two-week long vacation in Greece. Our tour guide Alexander was prompt, very professional and spoke excellent English. His vehicle was clean and very comfortable. He also provided us with plenty of bottled water, which otherwise is not not easy to get when you are roaming around in heat. He didn’t hesitate to go extra mile to please us. His knowledge of history, mythology, culture and local cuisine helped us a lot in exploring Athens comfortably without spending time in searching places. Having a private tour, though bit expensive was the smartest plan we had. It was so nice to hear about Alexander’s family, his high level education, his family and most importantly his own aspirations and dreams. We enjoyed his sense of humor and connected instantly. At the end of the tour I realized I forgot my hat in his car. He was so kind to make a separate trip to drop it off at our hotel. I would highly recommend Alexander’s tour and will wish him and his family the best.

5.00Alexander Papageorgiou was an excellent driver and guide & made the tour of Athens a thoroughly enjoyable, memorable and educational experience from pick up to drop off. He clearly explained & illustrated the history, culture & contemporary issues of the City with enthusiasm, passion and good humour. He made sure the itinerary suited our preferences & timings, got us awesome vantage points including for the changing of guards and weaved effortlessly through many narrow but charming streets of Athens, all the while with really interesting commentaries. Alexander is a credit to Athens & highly recommend for a wonderful tour of the city.

5.00Alexander was very efficient and knowledgeable. He met us at the pier for our Athens tour and provided explanations about the city and the history of the places we visited. We hit the highlights- Agora, Acropolis, Olympic stadium, the changing of the guard, and Alexander recommended a great place for lunch. He dropped us off at each place and returned quickly to pick us up when we texted him. I would highly recommend this tour.

5.00If we could give Alex 10 plus stars, we would!! Alex from Bucket List Tours provided us with a memorable and fun tour of Athens. We started at the acropolis where en route Alex began explaining the Greek history. Next we went to the Temple of Hephaestus with a small museum of ancient artifacts. Then he took us on a city wide tour explaining the various areas, history and amusing antidotes. He timed it so we saw the changing of the guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier and then off to the Placa, an historic area filled with cafes and shops!! What a wonderful fun filled day!! Highly recommend!!
