Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral
Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral, built in the late 1880s by French colonists, is one of the few remaining strongholds of Catholicism in the largely Buddhist Vietnam. Located in Paris Square, the name Notre Dame was given after the installation of the statue ‘Peaceful Notre Dame’ in 1959. In 1962, the Vatican conferred the Cathedral status as a basilica and gave it the official name of Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. Measuring almost 60 metres in height, the cathedral’s distinctive neo-Romanesque features include the all-red brick façade (which were imported from Marseille), stained glass windows, two bell towers containing six bronze bells that still ring to this day, and a peaceful garden setting in the middle of downtown Ho Chi Minh City District 1.
Central Post Office
The Central Post Office in Ho Chi Minh is a beautifully preserved remnant of French colonial times and perhaps the grandest post office in all of Southeast Asia. Located next door to Notre Dame Cathedral, the two cultural sites can be visited together and offers visitors a chance to imagine life in Vietnam during the times of the Indochinese Empire. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and features arched windows and wooden shutters, just as it would have in its heyday in the late 19th Century.

Had a truly memorable day in Ho Chi Minh City with our excellent and knowledgeable guide Castle. He was a pleasure to travel with, and took time to explain things well. He also made sure we saw some unique and off the beaten path things. Would recommend him highly. Our driver for the day was also excellent.

We spent the most amazing day with JKay on this tour. Even before our tour date JKay made sure we were kept informed of pick up arrangements etc. He was very punctual and extremely flexible, working in with us as we chose items of interest amongst all the given possibilities. As a group of 4 friends we found this tour the best option for us as JKay made sure we saw as much of the city as we could in the time we had. We never felt rushed and learnt so much about Vietnams history and also lots of interesting facts on life in Vietnam now. JKay is extremely knowledgeable and could answer all our questions. We had the most amazing time and can’t thank JKay enough for his kindness, patience, knowledge and great sense of humour and fun. As this tour was organised from port to Ho Chi Minh and back to the port, the 4 of us were very comfortable and we found we didn’t need to be concerned regarding timing as JKay took care of everything to ensure we were back at the port in good time. Thanks again for a wonderful day which we will fondly remember JKay your the best.

Kain was our tour guide and arrived at the port for pickup early. The van was very nice, new and comfortable. On the drive into the city Kain shared Vietnam's history. Very knowledgeable. We discussed the sites we wanted to see to customize our experience as well as the food we wanted to try. Kain is a foodie so he picked s great small restaurant in Chinatown for the Vietnamese dishes on our list. It did not disappoint. The highlight for us, but especially me as a true coffee connoisseur, was the quaint off the beaten path coffee shop. As the 2nd largest exporter of coffee the Vietnamese egg coffee and special blend expresso coffee were delicious. Each coffee cup preparation was a production.. Apparently the coffee is very strong and must be sipped. I enjoyed my expresso cup. We bought some coffee to take home. The War Museum was very moving and not too crowded. We could have stayed longer but it was our last stop and they were closing. One of the best tours , highly recommend experiencing Saigon with a professional local guide.

Enjoyed the trip - actually a private tour just for my husband n I in a comfortable air con car with a designated driver n an English speaking guide Tom. Guided us to all the highlights in the city with a good local lunch, coffee place n local shopping market, help us manuvre local traffic on the streets. Shared local customs n history of the places visited. Will definitely consider their services for future visits.

Flynn, We had a great tour. You were great - English is good & easy to understand. We got to see & learn so much about Ho Chi Minh City. We sincerely thank you for your friendship, care and professional guidance. We have been to many countries, but the quality of your guidance is rare in our experience. You opened our hearts to our shared difficult past, but left us with a sincere appreciation for your homeland. We will not forget our day with you. Thank you to the driver for a great drive! Thanks again for a great day!!

If you have an interest in Saigon, get a guide. Don't waste your time reading two paragraphs of history. Listen to an expert, and ask questions.

Dorothy was an excellent guide. Her energy and excitement made our day an experience we will not forget and Saigon a city we would love to return to. We saw all the major sites, enjoyed some great food and were very comfortable with the transportation which was simple with a pickup close to the ship.

Bao was an excellent guide for this wonderful tour. He was knowledgeable and friendly, as we were chauffeured around Saigon in a late model, air conditioned, and clean SUV visiting the historic sights. He was also very helpful as the wife was shopping for the grandchildren. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour of Ho Chi Min City with Bao. He took us to many interesting places like the War Remnants Museum, the Post Office, a lacquerware factory, a fabulous market. He even bought us coffee and a delicious lunch.
