Do NOT take a tour with this company. We were very disappointed with the service we received. I initially booked a tour of Tangier for the two of us as it was the first time we were visiting this city on a Celebrity Cruise. I had requested a private tour with an english speaking guide to see the main attractions of the city. Instead we had a driver who spoke no english, and claimed to speak a little spanish and french, which we later found out was extremely limited. Additionally, rather than a private tour, we were placed a van with 5 other people who were also as disappointed as we were with the service. Once on the van, my husband requested the driver to provide an engish spekaing guide but this did not occur until 4.5 hours later when we were dropped off at a shopping area in Medina. By this point, we were all pretty frustrated from being driven around to various stops with no information being provided and limited communication with our driver. The stop at the Hercules caves was disappointing as well because we were informed there was an hour wait and we did not have time to enter. Instead we were led to the musuem which was crammed with people where it was difficult to even get around. The stops at Casbah and Cap Spartel had nice views but we had no guide to provide us with information on the importance of these points. We were also not taken to some of the other stops listed on the tour. The camel ride was equally as disappointing. We were taken to a beach where two individuals with a few camels were waiting to give us a 5 minute walk along the beach. Overall, the tour and experience promised by this tour operator was not at all what was advertised and was extremely disappointing. I will certainly be requesting a refund. My recommendation for those travelling to Tangier on Celebrity Cruises is to book the shore excursion with the cruise line as at least you will be guaranteed an english speaking guide and a more pleasurable experience of the city.

Our driver for the outlying sites was friendly but spoke little English. He pointed out a few embassies and grand homes, but told us nothing of the local history and culture. The language barrier also meant that we didn’t realize that our entire time at Cap Spartel would be spent in the cafe drinking tea that no one wanted. Our camel ride was in a dirt lot above the beach, while we watched others enjoy the ride over the actual sand. Our driver skipped the Cave of Hercules because the line was too long by the time we arrived, directing us instead to a tourist trap faux cave full of tchotchkes. Back in the city, our new guide for the city sites spoke English but showed us nothing but a select few shops in the medina. He immediately dropped us off at a Moroccan restaurant for an hour, and then took us to vendors with whom he seemed to have an understanding. He seemed annoyed when we showed no interest in haggling for a small toy. He pointed out one small mosque that we happened to pass. Otherwise we learned nothing from him. By 3pm we had seen less than half of the sites on our itinerary. Not only did we miss out on the cave and the promised camel ride on the BEACH, but we also never got to see the Casbah, synagogue, church, or museum.

Our driver was good at pointing out the main city sites and he took us to the famous Cafe Hafa for tea and enjoy the breathtaking view. The camel ride was fun. We enjoyed the Medina walk very much. It was a lot walking but amazed by all the stores tucked in the narrow streets.

(This was booked by me for a one day port call by the Island Princess cruise ship.) Good value, an excellent basic overview of Tangier over the course of one day. There is a lot of moving around, and a lot to see. I was the only one booked on this day so it was like a private car and driver, and guide to the city. Excellent work by the driver in providing WhatsApp directions on when/where to meet. Driver did an excellent job although his English was not a strong suit. (I speak French, so that certainly made things easier for me - YMMV). When we got to the Casbah - the real high point of the day for me - a young guide (Don Nizar) with excellent English (and French and Spanish!) took me through the city alleys. Because it was just me, he asked what I was most keen to see. I cook a lot, so we got to focus on food in the Socco: meat, olives, fruit, and (incredible) spice shops. There was a break for a traditional lunch including couscous and lamb tahini (fabulous) and afterward he took me to the superb Jewish Museum and Moshe Nahon synagogue. The only feedback I would provide would be - because the driver who took me around for the first part of the tour wasn’t a strong English speaker - for the tour company (Spartel) to send a short “here’s what to expect” document with an agenda for the day, the night before the excursion. That would have gone a long way to clear up my befuddlement during the first part of the morning. The day was just perfect and a real eye opening delight for this first time visitor! I can highly recommend. Now I really want to return for an extended time in Morocco to do a “deep dive”.

Our driver Hicham was waiting for us at the port. He showed us many wonderful sights in Tangier. My daughter's favorite part was the camel ride. Hicham is very professional and knowledgeable.
