Renting bicycles at Assateague Island National Seashore is one of the best ways to get to know the Island and it's inhabitants. Protected bike paths line the road, about 6 miles in total. Riding a bike through the National Seashore is one of the best ways to experience all Assateague has to offer; secluded beaches, marsh overlooks, wild horses and a plethora of birds. There is no entrance fee for the National Park when entering on a bicycle.

Rather than riding your vehicle around Assateague State Park and Assateague National Seashore, you can rent a bike and enjoy the fresh air. Bike rentals are self-guided and include helmets and baskets. Riding a bike through the park is one of the best ways to view Assateague's wild horses.

5.00So glad I did this. Wonderful experience. Friendly, welcoming, humorous man running the bike shop, helpful, gave us tips and patient answering our many questions. It was a great, stress-free experience. Rented bikes for two hours with a friend. Perfect amount of time to ride, take breaks, stop at the beautiful, popular beach and ocean. Went in September on day in the mid 70's, perfect. Not an avid bike rider, even lost my balance getting off and took a tumble but got back on, kept on riding and encountered two beautiful horses. Lots of pictures. Highly recommend!

5.00I am an avid cyclist had a wonderful morning ride around the island- and even if you are traveling with your own bike- I highly recommend heading out onto Assateague Island on a beach cruiser. Slowing down, being comfortable & sitting up to enjoy the horses and birds. Such a great rental experience. Clean, well-maintained and serviced bikes with tires to navigate all of the island areas accessible by bike. Will be back. Thank you, Assateague Outfitters!

5.00This bike ride was absolutely amazing. This was mine and my boyfriends first time going to the island and it did not disappoint. We saw wild horses crossing the roads, walking in the parking lots, and grazing in the fields. So beautiful. One thing to note is there is a huge hill to go over in the beginning and end of the trail. Be prepared to hustle up that hill! It is slightly up hill to the end spot and then downhill the whole way back. Make sure your in some sort of shape, or you'll be exhausted like we were lol. One way is 5 miles and then 5 miles back. SOooo WORTH IT!!

5.00If I could give them a higher rating I would. My 11 years old daughter and myself rented bikes for 2 hours. The person at the counter was kind, funny, and knowledgeable. I would say it is the best way someone can experience Assateague Island. We saw wild horses, lots of different birds, deer, and bunnies. Do bring lots of bug spray and sun screen. Don’t forget to check out the store after returning the bikes. It has a lot of nice items to choose from for gifting or for keeping. We highly recommend Assateagua Outfitters.

5.00Easy ride to State Park. Safe riding paths and free entry if on bike. Saw horses right away on beach and Bay side. Price was right too!

5.00The rental attendant was welcoming, helpful, and created a positive experience. He also provided easy to follow instructions of where to go and how to get there. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and we encountered 20+ wild horses. Highly recommend if you love being active outdoors as we ended up biking 10+ miles however the terrain is very flat so it is not difficult to do.

5.002h bike rental. We went around the island (about 10miles in all). Option to add a cart to the front of the bike for free (recommended). It was a great experience. Beautiful landscape. We saw several horses during our hike. We went to the beach (US$5/person). However, we did not see horses on the beach. There were probably too many people. Everything was perfect.

5.00The rental process and pick up/return was super easy. The gentleman who helped us was humorous and informative. There was a designated riding path that was completely paved. Other than the bridge, which was uphill, the path was flat. Seeing the park and horses on bikes was amazing. There was very little “traffic” on the path. We were able to see plenty of horses as we were able to stop frequently as we pleased. Probably one of my favorite things we did on this trip!
