In the warm and dark lagoon waters lies a natural phenomenon of glowing blue waters alive with activity. The swirling of your hand, every paddle stroke, and the rolling wake off of your kayak all sparkle throughout the darkness. Not only do fish leave trails, dolphins look like torpedoes, and manatees a slow and graceful submarine. Many guests compare the experience to Pandora of “Avatar.” Some even recall the bioluminescence scene in “Life of Pi” as the gentle plankton leave a trickling glow when you hold it in your hands and let it trickle down your arm. Though some may jokingly blame this on NASA runoff, it is actually the biological response of microscopic algae called a dinoflagellate. The perfectly natural and harmless concentration of organisms produces light before your very eyes, often existing in millions per liter of water. Your tour will include a ton of information about these rare and exotic creatures with the most experienced guides in the area

What to bring:
Clothes you don’t mind getting a little wet. Towel (left in car)
Water Shoes – sandals or Crocs that can be worn in the water
Bring an extra change of clothes just in case
Camera & Dry bag (optional) These are fairly useless to capture bioluminescence, but great for capturing people.
Bottled water, Snacks
Any special personal paddling gear if you like
You may bring a flashlight, though we will provide a safety light.

Bioluminescent Kayak Tours - Summer Bioluminescence: Dinoflagellate (cloudy bluegreen glow) - peak season May to early November - Winter Bioluminescence: Comb Jelly (Individual glowing jellies) - peak season late November to April - During the warm summer months the waters of Florida's Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon come alive with single-celled microorganisms called dinoflagellates. - In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. 4.00Drew and Jared took us out on Haulover Canal, Titusville for a fantastic sunset tour during which we saw a beautiful sunset, an array of wildlife including different birds, jumping mullet and manatees. Drew led the tour and was very knowledgeable of the wildlife which was great. Both tried to find us the best spots to see the bioluminescent aspects of the tour and whilst we did see some, which were beautiful and fascinating, there was not as much as we had hoped for. This was more down to us being here a little early in the season (start of May) so out of Drew and Jared’s control but a credit to them that they maximised what was present. I would highly recommend this tour for a relaxing, informative and stunning experience of nature but consider later in the month and onwards for the bioluminescence. Thanks Drew and Jared for a great evening!!

5.00This experience was exceptional and unique in every way. My son and I truly enjoyed ourselves and were able to glimpse into an exciting world, completely out of our scope! Our tour guide, Jorge, was fantastic.....calm, welcoming and knowledgeable.. Zoey, Jessica and John were equally AMAZING in their roles! Each beautiful person had something wonderful to offer! We felt at ease, built personal confidence and were very happy! We are so appreciative to have had this lovely trip! Thank you, truly.

5.00Had the best time with all of our guides. Everything you'd ever want taken care of while you paddle out to a beautiful hidden gem. Price was more than fair for everything we got to experience and the fun we had. Would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to take in the magic that nature can be.

5.00We really enjoyed paddling the Indian River with Jorge. He was very knowledgeable about the biodiversity of the area, and planned the trip well so we could enjoy the bioluminescence in the water as well as the rocket launch that took place while we paddled. He took pictures as well as a couple videos which he shared with us. I hope you have an opportunity for this fun and relaxing time on the water.

5.00We had an amazing experience on the bioluminescent kayak tour. We saw a beautiful sunset from our kayak while we paddled around and watched the birds. We got to interact with the comb jellies, and one person in our group did the “manatee rodeo”. Jorge, John and Ashton were knowledgeable and friendly and really made the experience memorable. I would recommend this to anyone.

5.00We were a bit early in the season for vivid bioluminescence (we did see some) but we had an excellent guide (Jorge) and being out under the stars was a fabulous experience.

5.00Great experience overall and very well run. This was my first time kayaking and I will definitely be going again. The tour was organized, smooth, and very beginner friendly. Jorge and Jaeden were excellent guides, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely personable. You could tell they really enjoy what they do, which made everything even better. A highlight was getting to see and touch the comb jellies and just being out on the water. Jorge also took pictures for us so we could remember the night, which was a really nice touch. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially for first timers or anyone looking for a unique experience.

5.00My boyfriend and I booked this tour during our vacation and it was amazing. Our tour guide Mathew was so great, he answered all our questions was very knowledgeable about everything we talked about. We both had a lot of fun and would definitely do it again!
