This excursion is located on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. In order to participate in our tour, an overnight stay on Vieques is required. Vieques is a separate island off of the main island of Puerto Rico. You will need to take a plane or ferry from the main island of Puerto Rico to reach Vieques, and you will need to arrange separate ground transportation because you will not be able to bring a rental car on the ferry with you. Because we only offer tours at night so that our clients can experience the glow of the bay, even if you take our earliest tour, you will not be back to our meeting point with enough time to get on a ferry or a plane back to the main island on the same day. Our guides will meet you in Esperanza directly across from Rainbow Realty (278 Calle Flamboyan). Roundtrip from the meeting point, the excursion is 2 hours, time on the bay about 1.5 hours, weather permitting. We provide transportation from the meeting point to the Bio Bay entrance and back.

During November in a half moon day, the bio bay might not as luminous as expected. The tour was on time. It was muddy before boarding the kayak but they provided water spray to cleanup, so be ready in case you get drenched before or during kayaking.

Incredible experience. Arnaldo was terrific. It was fun and educational. One thing to be aware of is that at the beginning of the tour you walk through mud to get into the bay that is about 18 inches deep. So don’t wear anything that you can’t get dirty. Any pictures you have seen don’t begin to show how amazing the experience is. You have to see it live to appreciate it

Our guide was great!! I believe his name was Leonardo. He was informed and very very very helpful. He spoke English and Spanish and made light of every situation. On your way getting into the kayak there is mud so be prepared but i think that it’s worth it. Make sure you do research about the moon phase and weather. They can impact whether you see the organisms or not. Overall great experience and one for the bucket list!!

We've been disappointed. On the one hand because we hoped that it would look more like in the photos (bright blue) and that the activity would be more dynamic and being able to hear more anecdotes. Our guide was Arnaldo, yes he told us some anecdote but in general we noticed him cold and we hoped he would be more attentive and closer as we came with that conception of Puerto Ricans and we got a disappointment. Besides, he lost the laser by accident but instead of trying to find another one or asking a partner he told us the stars above without us knowing much. When we entered the mud we also had no flashlights and it was other customers of the activity that lit us We write this so that improvements can be made as it is a unique place in the world and I think the feeling should be once in a lifetime

AMAZING, PATIENT AND FUNNY. We felt incredibly safe with our group leaders and they waited for us when we got lost on our way to start the tour. Very kind. best part of the trip

Amazing experience. Guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I would do this again. The guides humanized the experience by telling us about their youth experiences with the bioluminescent bay. Fantastic.

Very unfriendly tour operator. Kommunikation is bad. Cancelled the tour on the same day and didn't refund.

This felt like magic. If you can make it through the tiny bit of mud at the beginning then it opens up to a bay full of stars and sparkle. Our guide made the tour interesting with a mix of biology and a little bit of Greek mythology. The weather was perfect and I highly recommend checking this out while in Vieques.

The approach is rough, slogging through mud which I may have missed in the comments. We didn't leave on time because they waited for some people who were late. The night was beautiful and in spite of s bright moon we were able to see the bioluminescence just fine. The guide was knowledgeable and very polite.

We found out this is not a licensed company to be doing tours in the bio bay. We were expecting to have more guidance and factual information about the bay itself. We were 10 people crowded into an old church van that barely made it to and from the lagoon. We were told that we could not wear water shoes or any foot protection because we would be walking shin deep in mud flats. My husband and I were given an inadequate sized kayak that took on water and needed to get into another kayak which led to my husband falling into the water. Fortunately it was not deep so no one was hurt or in danger. The trip was disorganized and we only had one extra employee in a kayak to help with people who were in need. We laughed it off but in the part of the bay that we were in was unimpressive especially for a moonless night which is what we planned for from the beginning. We will return to Vieques and will go back to the bio bay for the real experience but we will never book with these people again.
