• Fantastic Guide, Amazing Birds, and a Great Ruins Visit

  Our group of eight adults had an incredible time on this tour! We started the day birding with binoculars and were amazed by how many species we saw—toucans, herons, Montezuma’s oropendola (golden pendulum), and many more. Victor was an outstanding guide and seemed to know exactly where to take us to spot wildlife. We visited the Ichkabal Mayan Ruins and Victor was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the site. He shared fascinating details that really brought the ruins to life. On top of that, he was funny, kind, and made the entire experience enjoyable for everyone in our group. We had a wonderful time with Victor and would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for a memorable and informative adventure!

  Amazing experience. We were to only two people on our tour so we had personal attention. We saw a wide variety of tropical birds. We climbed a tower that overlooked the jungle. The Mayan ruins were amazing and our guide was informative about both the birds and the ruins. We also saw monkeys and crocodiles. We would definitely go on this tour again.

  My experience with Victor Rosales with Bacalar Ecotours was fantastic. Victor Rosales ability to find those elusive birds in the jungles surrounding Bacalar and Mahahual was amazing. Victor's knowledge of and passion for nature really comes out in this personal experience, but his ability to accommodate small groups is amazing as well. You won't go wrong with Bacalar Ecotours. Victor's by far the best I've had experience with 🤗

  Victor was an amazing guide - knowledgeable, friendly, conscientious, generous. And passionate! We saw so many species of birds even before getting to the ruins. He also showed us other wildlife at the ruins - even a monkey! He had in depth knowledge of the Mayan civilization and had recently attended the opening of the ruins and had learned a lot from the archeologists which he was able to share with us. Very valuable experience!

  We went on a birding tour with Victor who took us to the Ichkabal archeological site and also stopped off along the way at an observation tower (and when we saw birds while driving). We were able to see lots of species of birds, with highlights including two species of toucan, a gartered violaceous trogon, great curassows, a green-breasted mango, and various species of woodpeckers, and lots of other birds. We also saw a fox and various crocodiles. Victor is great at finding birds, friendly, and very knowledgeable on birdlife, conservation, and Mayan history. While the birdwatching was the main focus of the tour we chose, we also appreciated learning some interesting Mayan history from him. We requested to borrow binoculars ahead of time and he loaned them to us for the tour. I would definitely recommend the tour!

  

  

  

  

  

• Fantastic birding + near Bacalar

  A fantastic morning spent with very experienced local birding Guide, naturalist, and historian, Victor. We drove to several spots including an observation tower looking out over the jungle and ended up in the recently discovered/ Mayan ruins of Ishkabal. We saw lots of different birds including two species of Toucans, crocodiles and foxes. Victor has an encyclopedic knowledge of the flora and fauna and we learned lots about local life. He speaks excellent in English too! Highly recommended.

  We just had the most fantastic tour with Victor. We went to the newly opened Ichkabal ruins which was really nice because we got there early and were the only ones. We lost count of the birds we saw both on the way to and in the ruins, including several toucans! Red tailed hawk, blue heron, anhinga, montezuma oropendula, hummingbirds, red headed woodpecker, orioles, and nothern jacana, smoky brown woodpecker and more. We also saw foxes and an agouti a crocodile. Also worth noting is that I have a heart condition and had to go slow and stop frequently to rest.   Wide knowledge of local and local birds and fauna In addition to birds, gray vixen and peccari. We had a very special day, a long time wanting to photograph the Toucan in flight and it was achieved! He took us to a sighting tower in the archaeological area.... Good place to photograph birds

  Victor is an amazing bird guide. He asked what birds we were hoping to see prior to our trip and amazingly, he was able to make sure that we saw them all!!! We added 40 new birds to our list! He is funny and kind and took us to the perfect places to bird watch including the ruins and the jungle. He provided lovely snacks and made sure that we had a wonderful experience. We highly recommend that you hire him as a guide.

  Still on cloud 9 from that experience. Hands down one of the best days I have ever had. Such an intimate experience with wildlife. As our guide, Victor said, the perfect combination of flora, fauna, and history. My husband and I are two Canadian birders who came to Mexico to escape the cold and get a nature fix. This was the perfect tour for us. Victor and Matt were easy to communicate and plan with, and the experience exceeded my expectations. The knowledge and effort put into the tour was definitely noticed. We saw 50+ bird species, monkeys, and learned about Mayan history. Victor even took the time to point out plants and gave in depth explanations of things we were seeing. The love for the environment definitely shows. I would recommend this tour to anyone. Bring your own binoculars and camera if you have a good zoom. Binoculars are supplied if you give them notice ahead of time. You will not be disappointed !
