Constanta, founded as a colony almost 2600 years ago, is the oldest attested city in Romania, the biggest port at the Black Sea (third largest in Europe) and also the fourth largest city in Romania with its 400,000 inhabitants. Constanta was founded by the Greeks as a port on the Black Sea Coast for trading with inland people and called Tomis (VIth c. BC). The city was renamed later after Constantina, niece of Constantine the Great (274-337). It was still a flourishing port city in the 10th and 11th centuries, trading with the Byzantine Empire and the city of Genoa.

5.00This trip was the absolute highlight of my tourist adventures in Bucharest. The driver (Octavian) was fantastic & I learned so much about the area’s history and its present. It was a day very well spent with a guide who’s at the top of the list of many trip leaders I have experienced traveling over the years. I highly recommend this tour, for anyone seeking a day’s cultural, historical and scenic experience. You cannot go wrong.

5.00I highly recommend this day trip to Constanta and Mamaia beach. Radu is an excellent guide with so much insightful information to share. He is also a very safe driver and great company on a successful day out. I highly recommend Radu!

5.00Radu was an excellent host! He is well informed about Constanta’s history and culture! I am a history geek! So, I was intrigued by Radu’s historical knowledge of Constanta! The Black Sea view was so blissful to my eyes! I highly recommend this trip!

5.00In late October, early November 2023 my husband and I took a couple of yours with the awesome your guide.Radu. The first tour Bucharest and Beyond private day tour was fantastic he took us to the open air village museum, Mogosoaia Palace, Snagov Monastery, palace of parliament. He was very knowledgeable and kind. We had a great day hanging out with him, learning about the sites and the culture. We liked him so much we booked a second tour with him to see the Black Sea. He took us all around Constanto showing us all the beautiful churches and Mosques. The third day with Radu was also a lot of fun he took us to tour the inside of Parliament which was beautiful and we ate at wonderful restaurants while with him. Having Radu as a tour guide made our trip easier and more fun with no stress or worries. He was able to speak very good English and communicated with those in Romania who did not understand English for us. He was fantastic! I recommend him to anyone traveling to Romania!
