This is definitely a well worth visit. One thing to keep in mind it is definitely not a Southern Plantation. This is a historic working farm that gives a great history of slavery. You learn about the life and struggles these people went through. The tour of the home was interesting as was the tractor tour of the grounds. The most moving part of the visit is the eight small buildings that served as slave quarters. Make sure to take the time to listen and watch each presentation in every building. Plan to spend 2-3 hours here.

The stables are only open at certain times of the day. Unfortunately they were not open when we were there and could not wait another hour.

Good tour overall. Farm tour and slave presentations were excellent. House tour was hugely disappointing: three rooms and a silly, jokey tour guide (frankly worst house tour we’ve ever been on). But, the house tour was a small part of a generally good experience.

The Gullah presentation was worth the price of admission. Because I thought you had to book in advance, it was raining. I didn’t realize that you can pay at the entrance for $30 an adult. Had I known, we would have attended a different day and took the wagon tour. The history of the slaves was an outstanding presentation

We did the all admission tour and so glad we did. The home tour, the garden tour with a tractor and the Gullah store from a 7th generation Gullah. And we spent a little time with the polo horses by the stables. It was a great place to visit and learn about our history though dark as it was.

Wonderful tractor tour of the grounds. Wish we could tour upstairs of the Boon plantation, not only 3 rooms in downstairs. Excellent historical overviews of the Slave era and labor. Enjoyed Boon plantation a lot. Especially Epic Allie of Oaks. Highly recommend visiting

This is really a farm as they made sure to keep the slave history past very distant from everything else. I saw reviews talking about the history and tours, but this site lacked the actual history of what happened here but instead spend most of the tour talking about why doors were larger, who played the piano and what crops they are currently growing or attempting to grow. The slave quarters were an after thought during every interaction it was almost as if they were not ready to talk about it or discuss the reason the plantation became such a vast property. If in the area and looking for a history tour this is not one I would recommend, however if you want to hear about the old house and the lavish parties then visit.

Beautiful location and experience. The staff explained the plantations history very well as well as the workings of an actual “working” plantation. The gardens are beautiful and the ride around the grounds was fun.

Very informative. Well run. Eye opening seeing and learning more about the travesty of slavery. A must do if you are in the area.

Staff are wonderful. The Boone plantation house is not the original home and was not owned by the Boones so that was interesting to hear.
