Temporary exhibition Draw me a train! from September 19, 2024 to May 11, 2025 Draw me a train! Throughout history, travel - and trains in particular - have been a source of inspiration for artists. With the exhibition Draw me a train!, we invite you to explore the railway world, as imagined by talented designers. This exhibition delves into the work of thirteen renowned artists - comic strip authors, architects, painters, poster artists, sculptors and designers - who have captured the beauty of trains and the railway universe through their art. An exhibition that invites you to draw during your visit, you’ll also have the opportunity to unleash your own creativity by drawing some of our most beautiful trains, as well as remarkable or unusual objects from SNCB’s historical collections. The Eisenbah Museum of the Belgian Railways is located in the old Schaerbeek station and an adjacent new building. Arriving by S-Bahn is therefore obvious, even if the trams are waiting in front of the building. We were overwhelmed by how the whole facility was carefully decorated and comes out totally well maintained and clean. A bistro was even set up in the station - a little like in the old station restaurant where there was Crocque Monsieur. The greatest railway museum ever and only cheap! Thank you SNCB/NMBS.

This museum was on my to do list for a very very long time. We finally visited with our two children. First thing that strikes is the old Schaarbeek station building. You then walk outside next to the train tracks to the new building, where all the major exhibits are and take a journey back in time to present. Visiting various (steam) trains. While our small children were mainly interested in watching historical raisins, we loved to read more about them. There were some very interesting trains to see (Red Cross train from WWII, an old TEE) all the way up to mock ups and models of TGV and Eurostar. We spent a couple of hours here in total. The only ‘feedback’ about this museum is its lighting. Or lack thereof. It’s very dark inside. Until you each the last hall where there’s daylight. While it gives the trains a dramatic appeal, at some times it felt as if I was visiting a night club

A very nice museum in and near the station building of Schaerbeek. The exhibition starts in the old station building where the old, beautiful ticket offices can be viewed. Via a short walking path next to the tracks you reach the new halls which are very nicely and impressively decorated. Currently there is also the expo of the role of the SNCB during the occupation in the Second World War. It highlights all the points of view: the vision of the German occupier, the vision of the boss of the SNCB, the vision and suffering of the railway staff and of course the suffering of the many people who met their deaths with the help of the SNCB. The personal stories, photos and documents leave a deep impression. A black page in our history that should certainly not be forgotten.

Nice museum, suggestive, with a lot of ancient trains and more. Suitable for children, it leaves you speechless at the size of locomotives and wagons. Well done. Little gift shop.

I wanted to check the museum out as it looked quite impressive in photos. It was a very enjoyable, interesting experience that would be excellent for anyone remotely interested in trains. It seems to be very popular among school children too, so it's certainly family friendly. A lot of care and attention has gone into the museum and the staff are very friendly too. There's a lot to see. An express visit might take you 1-2 hours, but you could easily spend longer here. Very accessible and many toilets dotted around.

Journey through the history of the railway with a beautiful collection of machines, trains, locomotives, some beautiful archives and uniforms of times of controllers. A model of Cork-Guillemins from the Spanish Santiago Calatrava really pleased me as a Corker.
To discover absolutely, super museum.

This is a great museum that transports you back to the history of the Belgian railway. Several rooms, different atmospheres, smells still present when entering vintage cars (wagons). The museum is very well arranged, a succession of halls whose artificial brightness creates a rather unique atmosphere and offering original collections of objects and others in each room. It's exciting, it's fun for both children and adults. I personally loved it. Little mention for the kindness and kindness of our host at the shop with whom I was able to talk for a few minutes and who brings you a little more to this very nice visit. It's really an experience to do and it's just happiness. Thank you!

A bit dark in places, it does have a lot of information about Belgian railways and trains. Interesting for children and families. Big HOWEVER - I was truely shocked at the way the trafficked people to concentration and death camps during world war two were talked about in the displays. Calling these "deportation trains" makes it sound like these people weren't actually normal Belgians, and blaming the "oppressor" and calling it a "gray" topic, when actually it should be a dark day in your history and a sense of deep shame to anyone who participated in the trafficking of Jews, Roma etc for the Holocaust. I think this is handled badly, and should be re-written with greater reflection.

An excellent visit. Very complete. Very rewarding. Interactive. Amazing historical pieces. A really rich collection with the highlight of the show a simulator. Perfect for kids. Elevators are available everywhere for people with reduced mobility or strollers. To see at least once!
