The essential walking tour is an overview of Hungary' s past , culture and its people. The aim of my walking tour is to make you discover and experience our city through the eyes of an insider and to be informed by a native Hungarian about the past and current affairs of the city. I’d like to tell you all the history behind our bridges, buildings and statues, but most importantly I would like you to have fun and return home from Hungary with great memories.

Let's meet at stairs of the Lutheran church of Deák tér from here we take a short walk to Elizabeth square and also to the Opera house
Heroes' Square
After leraning about the Opera and other opulent buildings from the outside we hop on the Millenium underground Europe's frist underground and continue our walk to Heroes' squre and City park where we are going to visit Vajdahunyad Castle as well and learn about its architecture.

5.00I can highly recommend Gabor, his knowledge of the city and its history is absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend him as a tour guide enough!

5.00My husband and I had a blast during this tour. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and kind. Felt like we were seeing Budapest with a local friend. I would definitely book again as I plan on returning back to see more.

5.00Excellent experience!!… If I could give a 6 star I would.. Despite a downpour and strong winds that 2 pm, our tour guide Gabor did not hesitate to proceed and did not mind getting soaked!! Not only his willingness but to know that it’s just my wife and I who booked is quite impressive that did not alter the plan at all.. Gabor is well versed not only in European History but his knowledge extends beyond Europe.. We visited the sites as advertised and discussed with us everything he knew.. even in the subway and tram.. he brought us to the Strudel restaurant and we tried the Poppy seed Strudel which is superb.. Our tour lasted close to 6 pm and he brought us back to our Hotel.. I would not hesitate to recommend Gabor to everyone, he does tour also with Viking Cruises.. I will use him again when we return to Budapest with the rest of the family hopefully next year..

4.00We LOVED our tours with Gabor! We did two four hours tours over 2 days. One focused on the Buda side and one on the Pest. It was the perfect way to see all the highlights of the city, while also enjoying specific places that we were most interested in. Gabor made sure to tailor the experience to our preferences, showed us some incredible neighborhoods and architecture and was so knowledgeable about all things Hungary. We highly recommend taking any of his tours and will definitely see him the next time we are in the country. Ps he takes a fantastic picture, as well!

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Gábor. He is passionate about Hungary and has a wealth of information about Budapest (past and present). We covered a lot of ground (by foot and public transportation), which was great! Do this tour at the beginning of your visit and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!!!

5.00I recently did the Budapest Essential Walking tour with Gabor, and it was a fabulous, immersive experience. It felt more like a walk around the city with an old friend than with a person I had just met. Gabor is extremely knowledgeable about history, art and culture, and can make very intelligent associations with current events and how the past ties into our lives today. He is passionate about Budapest, the city he loves and knows intimately. We took the subway (which is really nice and clean), a bus (also nice and convenient), walked as well, covering a lot of ground, and stopping at various landmarks to get a better understanding about what we were seeing. It was a hot day, so the stop at a delicious and historic strudel place was a welcome respite. Gabor also desperately tried to teach me some general Hungarian pronunciation, but I am a lost cause! :) While unfussy and informal, Gabor was serious about sharing the highlights of this gem of a city, and I am so grateful that I chose to experience this with him. Highly recommended!

5.00This guide tour was formidable, great guide, we get more of what expected. Nice 3 hours. Very interesting visit. You cant be in Budapest without booking this tour.
