Visit the unique church square of St. Stephen's Basilica and admire the impressive building with its unique reliefs, mosaics and, of course, its dazzling frescoes! The third largest church in Hungary, spanning a length of 87 meters, a width of 55 meters, and a maximum height of 96 meters, is exactly the same height as the Parliament building. The enormous church honors St. Stephen I, the first king of Hungary, who established Christianity in the kingdom. And if all that is not enough, redeem your combined ticket and the treasury - accessible by elevator and stairs - can be visited by the guests arriving here, which has been expanded to three rooms, and which preserves such wonderful relics as, for example, the mummified Right hand. Then take a walk around the panoramic terrace, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.

English Guided Tour: Small group, live guided tour of the church hall. Duration: 50 minutes: The tour is 50 minutes, your ticket is without time limit. You can stay as long as you want after the tour ends. Please note: Terrace and treasury can be visited on your own, guiding ends at the church hall.

Church Hall & Guided Tour

English Guided Tour: Small group, live guided tour of the church hall. Duration: 50 minutes: Guiding is 50 minutes long, ticket is without time limit. You can stay as long as you want after the tour. Please note: No access to the treasury or the dome with the panoramic terrace is included in this option. Guide with the red umbrella: Meet your guide next to the Basilica's Ticket Office (left handsight). You do not need to go inside or stand in line.

Very important: The meeting place is to the right of the basilica (as you face the basilica), next to a chimney cake shop (yummy!). The basilica is BEAUTIFUL inside and out. Our tour guide was lovely and very informative. The treasury is not particularly impressive, but the top of the dome offers beautiful views of the area and they have an elevator. I would highly recommend this tour. The best part of the visit (which we had pre-arranged) is that they offer an English Mass at 4pm on Sundays. Perfect combination!!

Timea did a fabulous job leading our group around the basilica! She had lots of wonderful details to share with us about St. Stephen. The church is very pretty and I recommend paying the extra to go up on the viewing terrace. The only reason I didn’t give this experience 5 stars is because it was a little difficult to find the office, and the girl inside the office was rather rude and rolling her eyes at people.

The basilica was amazing, however, a service was taking place while we were there so that limited our ability to fully explore the church. I wish we would have known and I would have picked a different time. The dome was amazing though with incredible views of the city.

The ticketing office is not located in the Cathedral but at a building nearby, fairly easy to find if you follow the signs. Once you enter the office, there is a line for advanced purchase, where someone will give you the ticket(s) to enter the cathedral. The Cathedral is very beautiful and ornate. There was someone playing the organ while we were there. I am not sure if this is typical, but definitely adds to the experience.

Our tour guides voice was too soft. We couldn’t hear what she was saying unless we stood right next to her.

A visit to the church interior is highly recommended. On the day we visited there was an organ recital which drown out 95 percent of the guide's talk. Including the ticket for the upper levels may not be worth it for many people. The tower has access through a long stairway or limited capacity elevators. Views from the top are good.

The was a Holiday in Hungary. Our Meet up Host was filling in because of staffing problems. She was very seeet, but could not talk loud enough for a group of 15 or more. I did feel sorry for her. She was revovering from molar extractions. The basilica was beautiful. But history lessen was hard to hear.
Get the terrace included in ticket the view is fabulous of the city

Its beautiful inside and out. Go early. Enjoy being fit take the stairs and the lift down. The view 360 degrees from the terrace is great of the whole city.
Nice 30 minute visit to a very ornate church.

A fast and worthwhile experience to spend 30 minutes. We did not do the tower. It was not crowded on a late Monday afternoon.
