It was a wonderful experience to learn about the Argentinian tradition of drinking mate — from its history to the practical way it is prepared. In the end, we even received our first mate cups as a gift. Highly recommended.

We loved learning about and tasting mate! Veronica explained every step of the preparation and customs for enjoying and sharing mate as we sat in a circle making new friends. It was wonderful to learn about the cultural importance of mate and we enjoyed the drink. This is a unique experience in learning how the locals do it, because as Veronica explained, mate is meant to be shared and enjoyed with friends slowly over time and as a result it is really not offered out in cafes. Locals will enjoy mate at home, at work, or with friends in the park (this is why you will see most locals carrying their own thermos around) but travelers won’t find it prepared unless you join Veronica here! It was the perfect beginning to our amazing evening capped off with an incredible Asado feast with Betty and Marcelo at the same location, hosted by the same local family. Highly recommend both the mate experience and the Asado!
