Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens: Explore 11 hectares of botanical wonderland with rhododendrons and exotic flora. Keep an eye out for a platypus! (30 min)
Fernglade Reserve: Tranquil wilderness with native wonders like platypuses and vibrant birdlife. (10 min)
Charming Village of Penguin: Visit the seaside village named for its penguin colonies. Capture a photo with the iconic Penguin sculpture. (10 min)
For the Regatta ship the tour will visit Guide Falls instead of Penguin and Fernglade

This is a TWO HOUR drive around Burnie led by a onboard guide with series of stops, some very short. The first departure is 10am other departures can be purchased from the eGuide desk once you arrive into Burnie, or if sold out here.

Start at the Makers Market where the free shuttle bus brings you from your cruise ship
A brief stop to capture breathtaking views of Burnie and snap a memorable photo of your cruise ship.
Venture to the renowned Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens, where there's a high chance of spotting a wild platypus in one of the ponds or lakes. Relax at the delightful café with a panoramic view of the gardens, where you can purchase a Devonshire Tea or other refreshments, or simply savor the scenery. Admission charges are included in your ticket. (Toilet facilities available)
Delve into the tranquillity of Fernglade Reserve, where pristine wilderness meets abundant wildlife. Encounter native wonders such as the elusive platypus and vibrant birdlife, offering a glimpse into Tasmania's wilderness.
Our last stop is the museum which has a reconstructed street of how Burnie looked in the 1800’s. Entrance is free. If you disembark here there is a 5 minute walk to the shuttle bus.

3.00I think they did they best they could with what they had, but there is just not that much to see on a short cruise excursion in Burnie. We went to the garden to see a platypus, but none to be seen. The grounds were nice, but we were there in the fall season for them, so not very pretty overall.

4.00Stopped in Burnie, Tasmania, on a cruise where a shuttle took us from the port into town where we were personally greeted by the town mayor, Teeny Brumby. What a treat, if only all our politicians had so much enthusiasm.

2.00There was not much to see on this tour for what we paid. The guide/driver was hard to hear especially in back of bus.

3.00My mistake in not checking if the flowers would be in bloom this time of year. I guess I expected a tour that included the Rhododendron Gardens would be at a time they would be in bloom. Not worth the money to see green that is all around us without spending the time or money.

2.00It was very unorganized and difficult to find where to meet the bus in town. Our guide was older and very hard to hear and understand. The stops we went to on this excursion were okay but nothing amazing. Would recommend doing the "Wings" excursion instead.

5.00We enjoyed our trip . It covered places further out from the town. It was good to see some countryside. Penguin was a lovely spot. We enjoyed the Emu Valley Gardens very much and could have spent more time there. The guide was very informative. It was a good trip for the time the ship was in port.

3.00It was a nice trip, but it was hard to hear at the back of the bus . It would be stunning if you were there in October November when everything was blooming. I would’ve liked to have had time in the little town of Penguin.

4.00A bit confusing at check in for the excursion, apparently some participants went on the incorrect bus, so.we unable to go on our chosen tour, was disappointed, but another tour was substituted, it worked out fine
