Bupyeong Kkangtong Market

Bupyeong Kangtong Market is a market located at Jung-gu, Busan, and is one of the representative markets in Busan along with Gukje Market and Jagalchi Market. In the past, markets were held in the Bupyeong-dong area, but after the Ganghwa Island Treaty was signed in 1876, Japanese people began to live here and shop here, giving it the name 'Korean-Japanese Market'. Later, in 1915, it was designated as a public market by the Japanese and its name was changed to 'Bupyeongjeong Market'. After liberation, the name was changed to 'Bupyeong Market' and US military supplies began to be imported and sold here. In particular, a lot of US military canned food was sold, so it was called Bupyeong Can. It was given the nickname “market” and has been used to this day. This place is especially famous for its food, and among them, bibim glass noodles and tofu pocket casserole are the most famous.

MJ was an extremely helpful, pleasant & knowledgeable guide. Nothing was an issue for her, she adapted our agenda to suit inclement weather, brought us to non- tourist & local places, always with a smile & with our interests in mind.

Im back to Busan for more with MJ. This is my 4th tour with her! Really love MJ's vibe, and knowledge of Busan and Korea. She took the time to explain about each place we visited, and answer questions as well. She took us to a beautiful area in busan to eat. Food was really delicious as always! I'd definitely recommend touring with MJ. And of course I'll be back again on MJ's tour. Thank you so much MJ!!

A wonderful private tour with our fabulous guide Vivian in Busan. Our day included seeing a beautiful Temple, a visit to a beach, a shopping centre, the famous Gamcheon, markets and a delicious lunch where we enjoyed South Korean food. Highly recommended tour!

Wonderful day in Busan. Thank you to Vivian for showing us Busan. We enjoyed the beautiful Temple, the interesting markets and seeing Gamcheon. We loved the restaurant you suggested so that we could try South Korean cuisine. It was wonderful to be able to tailor the itinerary to where we wanted to go and what we wanted to see.

MJ gave us the best day of our 18 day trip in Japan and korea. She was full of interesting information and she was fun to be with. She was responsive to our special interests and took good care of us. We enjoyed e very minute.

Whether this is your first visit to Busan, or you have been to this wonderful city before, MJ will put together an itinerary that will make you miss it so much once you leave! She is well-versed in all the sites we visited and flexible with the schedule to maximize the brief time we had there. Our driver, Mr. Moon, was also the Best! Very helpful, kind and considerate towards all of us! Both MJ and Mr. Moon had no hesitation to do what was best for our group. Highly Recommended!
Lots of fun in Busan, even in the rain.

MJ was great! She found some great places for us to go with it being our 3rd trip to Busan. She was flexible and able to rearrange our time depending on the weather as it rained some. She helped create a fantastic your for us and we had a lot of fun with her and exploring Busan.

We went on a Tour with MJ, all around Busan, she really did an awesome job explaining to us about each place we visited, and also answered any questions we had. She interacted with all of us. Really enjoyed being on her tour of busan, and definitely recommend it. Thank you MJ!

I highly recommend MJ! Our family of 3 spent a wonderful custom day with MJ and her driver. She was fun, energetic and knowledgeable, and her partner was an extremely nice and safe driver with a very comfortable vehicle. We needed to get from Gyeongju to Busan (and the train to Seoul) and wanted to do sightseeing en route. I contacted MJ and she put together a custom itinerary for us based on my wishlist - but also advised me on what was doable so that we would have enough time to enjoy. In addition to some stops along the way from Gyeongju, we visited Yongungsa, Cheongsapo Daritol Observatory, Gamcheon Culture Village, and the Jagalchi Fish Market in Busan. Those alone would have made a very full day :) As an extra treat, MJ took several photos along the way and printed them on her portable printer! And when our daughter (who is spending her college semester in Seoul) received a last minute email from school requiring whe submit a studio quality photo THAT DAY in order to meet her residence permit application deadline, MJ found us a studio and got the job done!
