Discover this Gem of Tunisia ; a citadel originally founded by the carthaginians 2500 years ago and rebuilt in the sixteenth century, situated on a rocky promontory 150 meters high overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the city of Kélibia in the Governorate of Nabeul, on the northeast coast of the Tunisian peninsula of Cap Bon.

El Haouaria

The caves of El Haouaria are, in fact, ancient quarries whose exploitation began at the latest in the 7th century BC. Sandstone was used for a long time in the construction of the monuments of Punic and then Roman Carthage. The method of exploitation of this quarry was quite original and rare, the technique of which consisted of extracting the stone from the inside of the mass to bring it to the surface by means of square ascent shafts.

We had an excellent time on our two-week tour with Ahmed and Ahmed around the country! They were always kind, fun, informative, and accommodating to our requests. Tunisia is a remarkable place, and we felt that we got a very enjoyable and authentic experience.

This trip was worth the lunch we ate real golden imama, very good Visit to Cape is something mystical and historic, reminiscent of the Punic wars entering Rome and Carthage. There are the caves where slaves extract stones to make Carthage. But what we liked most was Kalibia Fort. Sublime to dominate the Gulf. View not to lose. It is worth climbing and walking through the entire wall, and fabulous views to not miss One side the sea. Another the marina another the city and another the tourist area Please see 4.
