Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse sits at the tip of a spectacular peninsula where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet. Situated at the most south westerly point of Australia, on one of the world's three great capes, Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse on mainland Australia.
Guided tours will take you to the top of this historic lighthouse, where you’ll learn fascinating stories about the lightkeepers, the region’s maritime heritage, and the tower’s unique craftsmanship. From the top, you can take in spectacular views of the cape and its rugged coastline.
Visitors can also explore the Interpretive Centre, housed inside one of the original lightkeeper’s cottages, an immersive experience that celebrates the history and lives of the men, women and children who once lived at the tallest lighthouse in mainland Australia.
Passes to explore the accessible heritage site and Lightkeeper's Cottage are available for purchase on site.

Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse
Your guide will take you on a trip through maritime history as you wind your way up the spiral staircase inside the lighthouse tower. This famous landmark was constructed from locally quarried limestone in 1895; and still functions as a vital working lighthouse for vessels navigating the treacherous cape. Discover the importance of Cape Leeuwin to early mariners and hear stories of the hardships faced by the early lighthouse keepers and their families. Once at the top of the tower you will be awed by views over the immense ocean, crashing waves and wilderness of the landscape. There are regular sightings of dolphins and you may even spot whales migrating between May and September. The spectacular surroundings are enhanced by the beautifully restored keepers’ cottages. Plan time to include a walk around the grounds and enjoy the spectacular surrounds at this beautiful heritage site. Complete your visit by relaxing over coffee and home-made refreshments at the Cape Leeuwin Cafe.

5.00We would highly recommend this tour as it was very informative and the lady was so lovely. I felt like I was learning things for the very first time. This place is where the southern and Indian oceans meet. And the lighthouse is the tallest in the southern hemisphere! And if you're fit and up for the stair climb, the view from outside of the lighthouse is phenomenal! We would highly recommend this visit 😎

5.00I went on the fully guided tour with a friend. It was on my bucket list to do a lighthouse and it was absolutely excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable. And very proud of her heritage and it showed in the way that she spoke about the Lighthouse it is definitely worth going to see you will not be disappointed.
Spoiled by strong wind and heavy rain.

4.00Weather spoiled it- soaked to the skin. Heavy rain and strong winds and little or no cover for casual observers. Grumpy staff in cafe. Guide was very informative

5.00We loved this tour giving insights into the history of the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and the climb to the top. We had never been inside a lighthouse before. The museum also was really interesting, make sure you go into see the movie. The guided tour to the top of the lighthouse was so cool, we were lucky enough to be the only 2 people on the tour that hour. Climbed to the top and walked around the outside in blistering winds was amazing. Our guide was amazing. There are not many places in the world where you get to see 2 Oceans meet. The views from the top of the lighthouse where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean were stunning, even though it was a horrid day outside. Well worth the experience in this lovely little Town.
